Where is USA-VS Womens' Hockey? USA Network is showing a stupid Disney movie!
The stupid USA Network | 02/14/2009 | Alan

This a is a total vanity post, forgive me.

I'm trying to watch the USA-vs-China Women's Hockey game, which is supposed to be on the USA Network. Their schedule shows it, the USA Network website shows it.

But what is USA Network actually showing? The completely forgettable and unwanted Disney movie "Eight Below"

WHAT IS UP WITH THAT? Do the people at USA Network think it's funny?

I called our local cable company, and they're hearing it. Turns out USA Network is feeding the hockey game ONLY in HD, and have not notified anybody about it.

That, people, is basically the equivalent of USA Network giving us the big middle finger.

In HD, right? I called our local cable co, and they’re feeding us (GCI Cable, Alaska) “Eight Below” in non-HD. Cable co says they’re hearing it from customers.

It’s normal cable (don’t get HD). I have AT&T U-Verse, so that might be why.

The ladies should be playing ringette, instead.

Second period , USA 7 CHINA 0

Good game. Give the Chinese 8-10 years practice and experience and it’ll be a really good game.

Where is USA-VS Womens' Hockey?

I'm looking forward to the USA-VS Mens' Hockey game. I'll be rooting for the USA team, but the Mens' team looks like a tough team to beat.

I tried watching the biathlon on NBC earlier today, but it was all commercials.
Two weeks to go and they can count me out as a viewer.

The commercials and filler makes the Olympics unwatchable if you don’t have a DVR. Almost nothing seems live, anyway.

Ringette is quite interesting really, more of a passing and skills game than a physical game. I'd just as soon as see the ladies play hockey. Especially when the darned USA Network says they should be showin' it! Argh.

If you read some of the replies on the above forum, it becomes a bit clearer. Apparently, it’s a blame game between USA Network and local cable providers. Looks like HD broadcast rights and analog broadcast rights aren’t the same thing.

I’m still blaming USA Network, though. They could at least have the decency to do a crawl explaining the situation.

(btw folks, I’m not double-posting these message. I’m clicking “Post” once.)
