Every time I read the above type post, I see the California air heads, stopped in the middle of an Arizona roadway, teasing a rattlesnake with a short stick.
They like to hear the sound they make with the tail raddles.
You should hear the different version, when they do get bit.
The desert wild burros, will all stop and fertilize a rattlesnake body, until it is covered in manure, a big mound of it.
Wild animals, once again, with more sense than humans.
