Is there any indication at all that Hunter wants to run again in 2012? His 2008 effort went nowhere. Why would he repeat?

I like his political positions, particularly on borders/immigration, but that doesn't mean he's a realistic candidate.

The charisma of margarine? One of the absolute BEST responses came from him during the debates where he REFUSED to apologize for America!

As for charisma, yeah, we can all see where charisma has gotten us.

Time for the grownups to be in charge!

I like Sarah Palin but I can’t see her toe to toe with Putin... yeah, she is tough but not Ranger tough.

Besides, after watching her now that she is on Fox, she says the same thing over and over, right on cue.

She is definitely an asset but I don’t think Presidential. JMHO

Gee I do believe some guy named Scott Brown just on in some New England state with that ole Mom and Pop approach.

Face it, technology can render the old RNC useless!

Authoritarian and statist??? Surely you are joking? The guy that wants to get rid of entire departments, who has fought the EPA his entire career, was the man standing between Clinton and his f’d up Crime bill as other republicans wilted, the guy who laid waste to Slick’s socialized medicine proposal, the guy who has valiently fought to cut every single benefit from illegal aliens - not to mention deport them, the guy who gets a fat ZERO rating from environmental groups, the guy with a perfect record on the 2nd amendment and property rights? That statist?

I agree with your analysis. I worked a little in 2008 trying to get Hunter on the Virginia primary ballot. We couldn’t even do that. He just never got traction in a crowded field. But let’s not waste him in a VP slot. Hunter for Secretary of Defense.

Love McCotter and Ryan, but you cannot elect a President because of sound bites on YouTube, besides it is the House that makes the laws, it would be nice to keep some people there don’t you think?

We live in very dangerous times, we need someone with stones!

I love Hunter....I dug my heels in and voted for him in the primary (his district is next door to my district), but he's a very pragmatic and realistic man and he's not going to run for president again.

In fact, pissant, you're sort of making him look foolish by insisting that he will or should run again. Had he gotten enough votes to make him more competative, then running again would be a more realistic possibility.

I'm not just spinning my wheels here...I live here! He has passed the gaunlet to his son. I have no doubt that Duncan D is headed for great things once he's a bit more politically seasoned.

Forget his experience, his expertise in trade and military, his stance on illegal immigration, the 2nd Amendment, abortion, freedom, etc. He should appear on Dancing with the Stars so people will be able to see his “charisma” and have some name recognition!

It would probably help somewhat if the primaries were closed as well.

Keyes was an Ambassador who has lost seven elections. Hunter won 14 of them, most of them convincingly. He was President of the American Security Council, he co-founded the Conservative Opportunity Society with Vin Webber and Newt, he helped write the Contract with America, he was Chairman of the House Armed Services committee as well as being ranking minority member, he’s a Vietnam Combat Veteran, he is a lawyer who ran his own business, he’s on the board of CPAC, he is THE recognized expert on our military systems, he was Reagan’s point man on SDI, he won the AZ and TX straw polls last time and tied in SC - despite being outspent 50 to 1, typically, and despite having a full time job unlike Huck, Fred, Mitt, Rudy, etc.

And on the issues, no one, not even Reagan, is as solid.

Why don’t you ask him if he’s going to run again. I did. Do you want to know his answer or do you prefer to pull things out of your ear?

Duncan Hunter would be a great President, but why doesn’t he run for the Governor of California? Or even against Boxer to become a U.S. Senator?

A term or two as a successful California governor or U.S. Senator could help launch him into the White House.

It’s VERY difficult for a US Representative to go directly into the Oval Office - in fact I’m not sure when the last time it happened.

I agree. I hope he does run. Being a governor would give him great experience.

He doesn’t need any more experience. He’s the right man for the POTUS today.

LOL. Forget that the pencil neck commies in China and Russia and the turbaned gangs in Iran and SA would crap their pants if Hunter is elected.

What state do you live in, pissant? I live here in San Diego. He actually laughs when asked if he's going to run again and redirects the question to the topic of his son.

You also tried to badger him into supporting a third party. You got no where with that.

We actually have events down here with San Diego monthly Republican meetings, Lincoln Day dinners, and Town Hall type meetings where both Hunters appear, along with other state and local political dignitaries. We get to attend small, pre-event, cocktail hours with these same politicians and their staff AND we get to speak with them in a relaxed, informal setting.

Quit trying to fool FReepers into thinking you know more than anyone else.

You are pulling stuff out of your ear, fella.

Do you want to know what he said about running again or not?

And I never once, EVER, mentioned or suggested a 3rd party candidacy to him.

WTF are you babbling about?
