Here's a tip: there is still a great pistol and ammo deal out there waiting for you. If you have waited too long to arm up, or if you want one more, look at the excellent milsurp CZ-52 pistol and 7.62X25 Tokarev ammo.

You can get a CZ-52 for about $200 at any gun show or at many gun stores. You can also find them by googling around the internet. The ammo can be had for as low as 11 cents a bullet in any quantity you want. Extra mags are from $12 to $20 each.

The milsurp ammo is full metal jacket, firing an 85gr bullet at 1,600fps. These will go through car doors, kevlar helmets, kevlar vests etc like an icepick through butter. OTOH, they will also go through one bad guy and maybe hit a good guy behind him.

However, you can buy hollowpoints ("Wolf Gold" with brass shells) for about $19/50, or half the price of comparable 9mm JHPs. My test "Wolf Gold" JHP ammo expanded to .60 caliber, the same as my test 9mm JHPs.

So for $400, you could buy a CZ-52, 1,500 rounds of assorted ammo, and a few extra mags. OR, you could buy about 2/3s of a "brand name" pistol, and no ammo.

It's just a thought. This is a great bargain. The ammo is cheap and plentiful at all of the internet catalog sites. Don't wait, the libtards will soon slam the door on foreign gun and ammo imports, and the prices will go way up.

Another benefit of this pistol is that it is very accurate, with very fine sights. WIth this flat-shooting ammo, you can hit at 100 yards with ease. Downsides are brittle firing pins (buy a spare, and don't dry fire) and a decocking function that you should not trust. Just lower the SA hammer like a 1911. The safety works like a 1911, so if you are used to 1911s, it will be very easy to use the CZ-52

I’ve never shot a CZ 52. But I shot a CZ 75 and was amazed that I actually preferred the feel and accuracy to the M9.

I got one months ago when you posted about this. I went to the range with my sons, they thought it was so much fun to shoot, that they each got one and I got another. I have enough to share with neighbors, but I don’t need to. I don’t know a single person within a 2 mile radius that is a raging liberal. If they did vote for him, they aren’t admitting it now.

Hard to beat Mosin-Nagants for price as far as rifles go. They are the rifle the USSR used in WW2. They are full powered battle rifles in 7.62 x 54mm. $80 for a rifle and $80 for 400 rounds of military FMJ ammo all over the ‘net now. $350 will get you 2 rifles and 800-900 rounds of ammo.

I bought a CZ-52 at your suggestion and I'm happy I did. They might need a little bit more of a tinkerer than average. I have not had to replace the firing pin but I replaced the rollers only because they looked a little rounded to me. I also replaced the slide hold back with the one shown here because the pin walked out while firing. That cured another problem as one of my mags would not hold back the slide when empty. Now they all stay back and it can be used as a release.

I think people should also consider the CZ-82 which fires 9X18 Makarov rounds and is normally good to go as soon as you buy it. Rounds are easily available on line for $0.20 each and they can be bought for around $250.00. They are nowhere near as powerful but they are more easily taken down and used by less experienced shooters. I prefer the CZ-52 for pure fun but I've carried the 82 and would never carry the 52.

You mentioned firing pins on the CZ-52. I would strongly recommend anybody who is considering purchasing one to get spare firing pins. They can break in a single instance of dry firing. There are after market, hardened firing pins made however that make the problem a moot point. I can’t remember the sources off the top, but google should bring something up pretty quick. :-)

Was it you that was showing some fairly decent wood grips for a 52? If so, where did you get them? I’ve been meaning to pick up or or two and it would be nice to get rid of those god awful things that come with them.

You convinced me to buy one of these more than a year ago and I just love mine. I bought a manual and a DVD showing how to strip and replace the firing pins, rollers, and several other parts that were originally made from .. let's face it .. inferior materials. I've replaced all of them and purchased five 1628-round "spam cans" of Polish ammunition, as well as having fired about 1200 rounds of Hungarian ammo through it since I replaced the firing pin.

Just put 50 rounds through my new(1954) CZ52. What a sweet shooting gun! The range manager asked to fire a few rounds and was impressed. Accuracy is spot on and he loved the trigger.
