"McCain has poked conservatives in the eye on a regular basis for a hellava long time."

They don't call him Maverick for nothing. And he is not someone to sit down and let others do it. At his 73 years he still has a lot of life in him yet. And as Sarah correctly said, "Only dead fish go with the flow." You have a lot to learn about running a campaign in Arizona. The insensitive nature of how conservatives treat immigration reform have had the Mexicans running to the DemonRATs. McCain understands that these are people too and you do not show conservatives as Christian neighbors to a country that is in self destruct mode. So, take your talk to the DemonRATs so that they lose a few elections.

"I’m beginning to think the McCain supporters here here are pro-illegal immigration backers posing as conservatives...

Wrong! We are supporting McCain because he knows how to win the election and keep Arizona a red state. Unlike you, he knows how to treat these people with dignity and respect. They would not be leaving their communities and their culture if there was not something pushing them up here. Do you understand that?!!!

So keep your talk about Mexicans civil or take it over to the true racists: DemonRATs. Get them to talk as much trash about our good neighbors to the south as possible. I mean, I am sure you can give them some ideas on real racist hate speech. Get them to put it up on their telepromptors and make sure they say over and over, "I HATE MEXICANS IN MY COUNTRY!" That way my friend, they will start losing some elections.

Snide? OK. Guilty. As far as me, and others like me, costing McCain the election, look elsewhere. McCain ran a campaign that made Bob Dole seem a model of energy and efficiency, making fools of all of us who voted for him, wasting our money, and handing a win to a man who had no right to even be on the ballot. Frankly, it made me wonder what exactly caused the people of Arizona to elevate my former comrade-in-arms to any public office in the first place. Any Freeper on this thread could have acquitted himself better than McC did in those laughable "Debates." In regard to Sarah's take on illegal immigration: Bill, If she thinks what you think she thinks, about now would be a fine time to reiterate it.

Reach out to Mexicans? OK. Let's reach out to them in Mexico. We are not designed as the safety valve for Mexico's social structure, or ridiculous excuse for a government.

Have you any idea how many Mexicans there are? What do you actually propose, a population swap? In 100 years, this Republic is in danger of becoming the northernmost part of Latin America, no matter what measures we take now. Are you in favor of that? I am not.

If so, say so, OK. Vote that way. It is a point of view. La Reconquista is a dominant theme of Mexican foreign policy.

These people are human beings and we need to win their trust.

Not bloody likely, since WE HAVEN'T THEIR REPSECT, especially in regard to our laws. You need to spread that type of talk with your friends the DemonRATs. It will guarantee that they will lose every election; including dog catcher.

It is not going to work unless you gain the trust of the Hispanic electorate in Arizona. So far, McCain has not hurt himself with his stand on immigration reform. If you would look closely at what he is saying, it is not a bad approach. And the Hispanic electorate wants him to pursue and fix it in the Senate. They want a pathway to this country as a refuge from the political storm that has going on in their country for years.

It is not all about Yankee money. These people are on the edge of disaster and it is not getting any better.

The worst thing the Republican Party can do is to lose the trust of the Mexicans.

Interesting. I didn't know the republicans were elected to serve the mexican people.

And because of the upheaval in Mexico, the best thing we can do is to gain their trust. Do you have any ideas on how we can gain their trust?

Trust is a two way street. What can they offer us for our trust?

What can we give them that hasn't already been offered? Bush couldn't win their trust and he promised to be "one" with latin America.

We can't out democrat the democrats.

To hell with mexico.

They should know that respect for our laws is a matter of fairness; not racism. Justice and fairness is something all people know. Those who have gone through the process of gaining legal status see others cutting in line. Those who cross America’s borders illegally need to fall into the back of the line and follow due process in being granted citizenship. Additionally, the system in which immigrants are granted citizenship into the United States must be expedited efficiently while implementing enhanced security measures to protect already-citizens from outside threats.

One way to fairly implement security measures for those already granted citizenship is E-Verify. Essentially, E-Verify acts like an instant I-9 eligibility check by the Department of Homeland Security in partnership with the Social Security Administration, in contrast to the current system where the employer only needs to check eligibility status if audited. This system keeps jobs in the hand of American citizens and those with legal work permits, an essential provision in time of a struggling economy and high unemployment rates. Furthermore, it protects business owners from being penalized by unintentionally hiring illegal immigrants who provide forged paperwork.

The best charity we can give them is a better means to help themselves. I am for a technological method to close our borders. Then, for those who are here, we need to deal with them as humanely as possible.

As for the forces in Mexico. That is a problem that is beyond my pay grade. I do hope we are giving the Mexican government good advice and if the Obama Regime has no answers, the Republican Party should be taking the lead loud and clear.

The 2008 election was lost when the economic collapse hit just before the election. The DemonRATs successfully put the blame on the Republican Party and the rest was history. We had a Republican running in our state for governor. He was up by 15 points in August. In November he lost by 15 points. McCain got hit with the same problem.

“I want to clear the air right now,” Palin said. “In respect to the Tea Party movement, a beautiful movement. You know what? Everyone here today supporting John McCain, we are all a part of that Tea Party movement.” Palin’s statement at a rally for John McCain in AZ yesterday as reported in the NY Daily News.

This is the quote. You have to decide. Yesterday’s newpaper.

I have3 decided that that doesn't imply support of McCain by the Tea Party movment; rather, it merely indicates support from some individuals associated with that movement.

Fairness in immigration.

Well your heart is in the right place. It's your arithmetic skills that are in question. The Latin-ization of the USA is being rapidly accomplished with numbers that absolutely dwarf previous immigration, and with speed that compresses 150 years of previous immigration into three decades. The number of illegals alone is greater than any other single immigrant goup.

Please note that I do not necessarily blame the illegal immigrants themselves. Even Mexico does not tolerate illegal immigrants, but passes them through, after thoroughly fleecing them, to us. We do NOT enforce our laws. And we do not have a secure border. Ergo, we do not earn the Latin-American "repect" necessary to run a real country.

As far as racial justice goes, are you suggesting that race is not an important identifier in pursuing criminals? Racial prejudice is an ugly thing. Breaking the law of the US is uglier.

PS, the last illegal immigrant I know to have been deported was a Norwegian student who overtayed his visa. Was he "profiled?". He ran a red light and was sent out of here packing. Was that ""Fair" in your book. Had he been an illegal Mexican, he would have been very likely just released. Happens everyday in PDs across the country.

I hope that eventually, The US will be a Latin-American Country in population (that part is absolutely inevitable) that more resembles Chile, or Argentina ... not Bolivia or Peru.
