Possibly useful in 2012, but energy now better deployed towards winning control of Congress in Nov. 2010.
A tip for people capable of thinking in terms of scarce resources, priorities, calendars, etc.
Practicality.
That wouldn't be surprising at all. If Obama had been a really stand-out teacher, we'd have heard more about his UC days, so the general silence about him from faculty and students makes a point, but it takes more than hearsay to nail that impression down.
The other professors hated him because he was lazy, unqualified, never attended any of the faculty meetings, and it was clear that the position was nothing more than a political stepping stool.
Again, that wouldn't be a surprise.
But I'd take issue with "hated" which implies some intensity of feeling. If you've got a colleague who's basically a political appointee and doesn't show up for any meetings, you might despise or dismiss or ignore him or not be aware of his existence, but to hate him means taking more notice of him than he deserves.
Also, if you really hated him, you might be tempted to go public if he were running for the highest office in the government. More likely, Obama was somebody who really didn't count intellectually and who the other professors didn't pay much attention to.

Not only is HE an ignoramus, apparently those who write for TOTUS are too.
Gosh, you don't need to be Law School faculty for that. Any racist redneck Tea Bagger militiaman can do that.
BUMP for excellence in posting! ..And bookmarked.
“Internet bloggers - - doing the job the “mainstream media” never did.”
...I think I’ll surf the net now, looking to see if some more Democrat newspapers have gone bankrupt, just to make myself smile.
You don’t want to miss this!

This is not true. Presidents of the HLR generally do not write articles under their own name for the Review, so obviously this is not an academic requirement.
1. President Barack Obama, former editor of the Harvard Law Review, is no longer a "lawyer" . He surrendered his license back in 2008
2. Michelle Obama "voluntarily surrendered" her law license in 1993.
3. So, we have the first black President and First Lady - who don't actually have licenses to practice law.
She voluntarily surrendered her license in 1993. Let me explain what that means. A Voluntary Surrender is not something where you decide Gee, a license is not really something i need anymore, is it? and forget to renew your license. No, a Voluntary Surrender is something you do when youve been accused of something, and you voluntarily surrender your license about five seconds before the state suspends (or disbars) you.
This struck me as odd, since (a) she went to school to be a lawyer, and (b) she just recently held a position with the University of Chicago Hospitals as legal counsel and thats a pretty hard job to qualify for without a law license.
ping for later reference.
we need a break on this like we got with the East Anglia climate emails.........
