It was so earth shattering our local media didn’t even cover the event.

Exactly, much ado about nada.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you guys here.

Tom Coburn has been listed as the 4th most conservative member of the Senate, not far behind James Inhoffe who is the 1st.

Obviously, I'm not personally convinced that Nancy Pelosi has the interests of the people at heart; however, I don't think that we should ostracize the man who was arguably the single most ardent opponent of Obamacare in the Senate.

Coburn is almost certainly not some closet progressive liberal. He's been trying everything that he can to reduce government spending, and socialist style politics. As an Oklahoman, I will be voting for Tom Coburn in November, because he represents me well and he's done everything that I elected him to do.

You would all do well to look at his voting record before calling him out on something as ridiculous as personal chivalry.

I disagree. I have to say that I was disappointed in his remarks. Showed a side of him I have never seen. Talking down to the people who elected you is not very appealing or endearing.

Yes he has done what we elected him to do. That is why he has my vote as well in November. Doesn’t mean many are not disappointed by his recent remarks. We need solid leadership now. We do not need to be schooled in who is naughty or nice or how many news articles we should read or not read. We need to see the plan for solving the nation’s problems.

By your bio, you are a young conservative. Good. My hope for you and your generation is that you have the same opportunities and freedoms that we have today. We are standing up so you can have just that and we want our leaders to hear our concerns. That includes Senator Coburn.

I think that there is a difference between disagreeing with him on the issue of Pelosi’s intention and those that are saying that he needs to be voted out just for having manners. (I realize you aren't one of those calling for ousting him btw)

Sun Tzu’s “Art of War” talks about how a smart warrior needs to know his enemy. I think this is what Coburn really means when he talks about reading other sources of information. If you can look at your opponents philosophical approach to a problem, you can develop a better competing philosophy in the arena of ideas.

I think it's possible that Pelosi is a naive liberal. Mind you, I'm not positive about this, but she's certainly dumb enough. I seem to recall her saying that every month that we don't get an economic recovery package that 500 million Americans lose their jobs.

There is much hope for America with young conservative people like you on the horizon.

No doubt some liberal citizens are good intentioned, but leftists are not. Then you have Dem politicians like Pelosi and Hillary and Reid. I believe they have no real belief in any political agenda, but they do believe in Dem/personal power. Someone that gets up there and lies day after day and knows they are lying is not good intentioned. President Bush, I had my disagreements with him, but look at how they lied and treated him with their media comrades day after day for 8 years. That’s good intentioned? There’s no point in pretending any more. It may make one feel good to believe as Anne Frank did that basically people are good at heart, but it’s not based in reality IMO—especially when it comes to Dem politicians.

Yup - time for Dr. Coburn to go back home and deliver babies full time. He wrote a great book: Breach of Trust - one reason I would never trust Newt Gingrich again for his collaboration with the Left. Now Coburn is sounding like Gingrich. Demonizing our friends/allies, and admonishing us to love our enemies like Pelosi. Too long in Washington. Sounds like Coburn is letting it go to his head that people are actually interviewing him more.

Palin says and does a lot of stupid things - her active campaigning for McCain the most glaring example. And don’t tell me about “payback.”

OK. She believes Steele is doing a good job. You, me, and others may not agree with that. To me it is an irrelevant point. Whether she thinks he is doing a good, or even a bad, job how, please explain to me, does this affect her stance on taxes, energy, pro-growth econ policy, strong nat'l defense and adherence to intent and spirit of our Constitution as defined by that of Madison and Jefferson.

If you people wish to hang Palin out to dry just because she doesn't fecking agree with everything you happen to believe then perhaps you should log off and start your own campaign for elected office.
Her endorsement of McCain sucks, it is egregious, in my opinion. Yet I am fully cognizant that she is head & shoulders above any other potential GOP presidential candidate, with the exception of Mike Pence.
Let me explain what the problem really is. It is too many yentas and pot-bellied hillbillies posting utter nonsense on a political website. Try, just TRY, reading a book sometime. Did you know Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry despised each other? Yet the former oft lauded the latter. Just one example out of many for you to meditate on.

It’s not about hanging Palin or anyone else out to dry. Very few Conservative politicians know how to be on the offense and not sound like a collaborative monkey always on the defense (too bad Gingrich can’t be trusted because he is the only one out there with an Offensive plan). I like Palin on a personal level and for her stance on all the major issues, but as with Obama on the Left, just because she looks good and sounds good, should she be the one leading the Free World? Maybe someday my answer will be yes, but not anytime soon. I think Michelle Bachman has way more credibility with actual time in elected office to burnish her conservative credentials. I would vote for Bachman in 2012, but not Palin.

And YES, jla, I do read, and I do know how much enmity there was among our Founding Fathers and the rude public exchanges that make today’s politics look pale in comparison. My question to you is this: Why are you reading comments from us Yentas and Pot-bellied hillbillies??? You acknowledge my points and then call me names. Wow - that really elevated the discussion didn’t it!

I sent him a note saying how disappointed I was by his remarks:

Ostracize? No. Let him know we are disappointed? I should hope so!

I do not find his words to be something minor, nor is objecting to this in any way ridiculous — IMO.

A) he reads the NY Times and Washington Post to get the “real truth”?

What an idiotic concept. Later, in another statement that Mark Levin played on his show, Coburn said that he was talking to some “really conservative” people (you know how THEY can be) who “only get their news from one source” (Fox News).

How arrogant. How condescending. He smears the people who voted for him as ignorant extremists.

Not only is Coburn’s behavior arrogant and condescending, it is actually dishonest. Who is he pandering to?

Coburn has always been tops with me. This is baffling and very disheartening.

Another thing Levin said....can you imagine George Washington saying, “Hey, King George is a nice guy. Ya ever met him?”

also, Coburn dodged the question. The question was about jail time in the healthcare bill. Not about how “nice” the woman us who wants to take away our doctors and our freedom.

Does Coburn mean the bill will not be enforced? No jail time, no matter what we do? As Levin points out, that is pure idiocy, and it is dishonest.
