What Lies Beneath (Dick Morris emails conservatives asking them to vote for DeVore or Fiorina)

MEAN MORRIS Some California conservatives were scratching their heads over an email being sent around by longtime Democrat and Clinton adviser Dick Morris, telling California Republicans not to support Senate candidate Tom Campbell, who has been leading a number of different polls, and who has declined to sign the Americans for Tax Reform pledge to not support tax increases.

"Guess Campbell didn't take any of Morris's advice or a phone call," joked one California political consultant. Morris has gained the reputation for using his emailed newsletter and Fox News appearances to criticize candidates he has attempted to rope into any number of entities he consults for, including the League of American Voters organization. In his email, Morris encouraged Republicans to support either Chuck Devore or Carly Fiorina. Of the latter two, Devore appears to be the one candidate showing momentum leading into June 8 primary.

I have to thank Dick for this. We have a lot of unprincipled types who are clandestinely sitting back while the worst possible candidate, Tom Campbell, cruises to the primary. Boxer will have a field day with him casting him as the premier Sacramento insider who share's responsibility with Gov Schwarzenegger for the states financial problems. He was most recently the state director of finance. He has also in the past written letters on behalf of terrorists, supported funding the UN population control programs some money which went to China, he has refused to sign a repeal pledge on Obamacare, and vocally opposed Prop 8. The author of this piece is really being an ass but let him. DeVore's numbers have been improving in the primary and their are plenty of undecideds left to make the difference. Fiorina should drop out and support DeVore and run against Feinstein next go round. Feinstein soundly defeated Campbell last time and their is no reason to think it will be different this time. We need a candidate with high ground, not some soft Republican insider like Campbell. DeVore's only deficit has been name recognition not the ability to win. In head to head matchups against boxer DeVore and Campbell are nearly even with only a difference of a couple points.

Go ahead and vote for Campbell if you want a soft Republican Berkley Professor and Schwarzenegger lackey running against Boxer. It certainly isn't a plan to win.

I have been supporting Devore. I’m waiting for my Devore campaign sign to show for the front lawn. I agree that Campbell is the most liberal. I’m not fond of Fiorna either. Go Chuck.

Absolutely support DeVore. What I can’t understand from a PRINCIPLED standpoint is sorta-upporting Fiorina. She’s at least as liberal as Campbell. So I tend to agree that Dick Morris’s particular shot at Campbell is based on something other than the (correct) notion that Campbell’s not that conservative.

Fiorina has at least came out and claims to be prolife and pro traditional marriage and she has signed onto to repeal health care. I think both her and Campbell will be seen to be the weakest candidates from a positioning standpoint. They both don’t have high ground and Campbell has the least. DeVore is the candidate for these times. I just can’t stomach a Schwarzenegger lackey running for Senate. It is crazy. Boxer will totally destroy him. We need someone who is different than Sacramento and Washington. DeVore Represents that. He just needs the other two candidates to get out of the way so he can get the funding he needs to win.

Fiorina also (in a radio interview) indicated she is at least not anti-gun, says her husband owns and shoots guns. Campbell IS anti Second Amendment rights ( at least on assault weapons, CCWs, and various other things) and openly stated so in several postings on Calguns.net. Points for honesty, minus triple the points for not supporting the Constitution. He’s still better than Boxer, as he’s not an anti-gun activist like she is, and he’s more fiscally conservative than she is.

It’s like this.. DeVore would be an epic win. Fiorina a slight win. Campbell a tie, and Boxer is epic fail.

Actually, Fiorina is not as liberal as Campbell.

She's no DeVore, but she's no Campbell either.

Agree — My first choice is DeVore, second is Fiorina. I will only vote for Campbell if, heaven forbid, he is the top vote getter in the primary. He’s not good and been around way too long, but I’d still take Campbell over Boxer.

The Susan B. Anthony List, the national pro-life group that was created as the counterpart to the pro-abortion EMILY’s List, has just announced its endorsement of the pro-life Carly Fiorina for the Senate from California. Given that the polls show that it’s a two-person race for the GOP nomination between Fiorina and the pro-partial-birth-abortion, pro-same-sex-marriage, pro-gun-confiscation, anti-Zionist, pro-Islamist DIABLO Tom Campbell, I think that conservatives should support Fiorina. While I certainly acknowledge that DeVore is more conservative than Fiorina, and I would support DeVore if he was within striking distance of Campbell, it does not appear possible for DeVore to be able to catch Campbell. Only Fiorina can beat Campbell, and I am confident that she can go on to beat Boxer as well.

Anyhow, here’s the article on Fiorina’s endorsement by the Susan B. Anthony List:

WASHINGTON – Today the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced their endorsement of Carly Fiorina, candidate for U.S. Senate in California. Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund President Marjorie Dannenfelser commented on the endorsement:

“We’ve been waiting for Carly Fiorina for a long time—in fact, since the day Barbara Boxer was elected to the U.S. Senate. From a pro-woman, pro-life perspective, there could be no greater contrast. She embraces and advances the rights of women and unborn children, following in the footsteps of the earliest women in politics. Susan B. Anthony and the early feminists understood, as Carly Fiorina does, that undermining the rights of one never advances the rights of another.”

The California Republican primary election is June 8th where Carly Fiorina will face Chuck Devore and Tom Campbell. The winner will challenge 18 year incumbent Senator Barbara Boxer in the general election. Senator Boxer is one of the most aggressive champions of abortion rights and is endorsed by EMILY’s List.

If Carly Fiorina could almost bankrupt HP and get fired I sure don’t want her anywhere any public office!

Emily’s List. My brother-in-law’s sister had their seal of approval when she ran for the MA House a few years back (mercifully, she lost).

Tom Campbell is such a scum.

It’s an interesting question, whether to abandon DeVore for Fiorina on grounds of electability. I probably won’t, but I’ll consider it depending on where things appear to stand before the primary.

I agree, you should reevaluate closer to the election. If DeVore is running neck-and-neck with Campbell a week before the primary, I’d certainly reconsider who to support.

I agree with that approach.

I’m sure many are DeVore or bust. They won’t be easily convinced.

BTW, it’s still weird having Dick Morris on our side.

Fiorina is Goldman Sach’s hand picked candidate.

If you want more corporatist fascism in California than we have now, go ahead, vote for her.
