Well my Census story is also without incident.
Lady came to my house and immediately my dogs went kind of nuts - they have good senses :) What they don’t have in size and weight, they make up for with excessive barking!
She said she’s from Census and needs to ask questions, and it’s “the law”.
I asked what law, and she pointed me to a statute printed on the Census form. I asked, am I required by law to answer all questions, or just to participate?
She said I was only required by law to participate. This set the stage for my responses...
The only questions I answered had to do with number of people in the home; all others, my response was to the effect of, “I prefer not to disclose that information”.
No one’s been back and I participated according to the Census worker’s explanation of what I was required by law to do.
I don’t know...if you were in Orange County, you may. But if they actually said they were QA, I doubt you’ll see any more.
FFFFFFFFFFTTTTTT!!!!!!!
“I was nonplussed this past week when a census worker came by and said that we did not send in our form. Yes we did. He also went to every other house on the block.
So none of our forms were received? Riiiiiiight. Gots to keep those jobs created.”
Same thing here. We sent in our full form very early in the process. They keep insisting we didn’t. I think they want to double count in our very liberal area.
I live outside Albuquerque in a more rural area. The Census guy was a local, he never came on the property but waited until you saw him and wandered to the fence, asked how many people lived at the address, said thank you and left.
I think most of the Census idiots and little tyrants are in the urban areas.
“Free-range rude census worker. My favorite.”
Ours is a very conservative area. I think they are just trying to milk this thing for every job and dime they can think of creating. From the ads on the buses to the printer and canvasser.
Well, I’m glad if they are double counting in conservative areas, it might make things even steven for the obvious double counting around here.
Can’t get the video to load. Story of my life. LOL
I responded the same way. I told him 4 people live in my house. When he moved to other questions, I said, I know we need to comply with a head count but that is it. I didn’t think race and such was mandatory and he agreed and left.
I doubt he would have gotten ugly with me anyway. Behind the glass front door were 4 large dogs...LOL!
I prefer not to disclose that information.I used the timeless "Decline to State". I didn't even try to form a complete sentence. He said he did not have a field to put that answer and I told him he'd just have to "pencil that in, then".
I successfully ducked my census worker for 3 weeks. Last time, I drove up as they were pounding on my door and I merely sat in my car, down the street, until they lost interest.
Sadly, he got me last week. I told him right off the bat that I was gonna be difficult, and I was.
He asked me me my race and although I said hispanic (I'm not!). I would not tell him what kind, as they separate Cubans from the overall hispanic group as a way to remove non-liberal hispanics from the demographic. (Cubans are the only hispanic group that votes overwhelmingly conservative). I told him that, and he seemed surprised.
Then he asked if my house had a mortgage (I laughed openly at him) and then asked the amount of the mortgage (LOL !)
I ended up creating a few people who lived at my home. I figure more money for my district.
Also, for "ethnicity" (a separate category than "race") I told him that I and my wife were both "West Atlantean" because we trace our roots to an island in the West Atlantic.
He could not spell that. I had to help him.
Anyway, I was prepared to go medieval on him but he is my neighbor from 8 doors down and I did not want to create a close-in long-term enemy, or more importantly, turn the neighborhood against me by my extreme rudeness. Thus, I was merely semi-rude.
Also: of all the things I asked him and all the queries I made regarding the census, he did not answer a single thing with candor. His answers were all scripted and memorized.

Pimp on, Pimper.
LOL, no.
They don't have any authority to ask you any quastions at all - not even how many people live there. And they certainly don't have any "proxy" authority with third parties.
None.
what is law and what is done may be two different things. I’m just saying what we are told to do.
As a former census worker..let me see if I can advise a little from my experiences.
I have worked 4 operations in the last year and was let go recently due to lack of work.
It didn’t matter to me whether I had the right or not...I was told to do my job and I did.
If I came upon someone that was aggresive towards my being on his property I tried to explain why I was there moer clearly.
If that failed I wouod leave and report to my Supervisor.
That is what you are supposed to do. Follow the Rules as a Census Worker.

Speaking of Albuquerque, last night’s Breaking Bad really got me out of my chair at the end. Took two hours for my adrenaline to return to normal.
When THEY manipulate the Constitution THEY do harm Americans...I needed a Paycheck...Sorry for taking your 1/4 cent...Really I am.
The original intent was to make sure we knew how many citizens we had...They went out on their own...1790...using their own money for riding & writing supplies...It has become twisted to change the demographic lines that do not adhere to any form of a free society.
Yes that is correct...We were instructed to ask anyone nearby who may have any knowledge of the residents.
It seemed silly because...unlike the elections...you could say you were Mickey Mouse Et Al.
