After 9-11? I had to produce a certified copy of my birth certificate in 1973 before I could be commissioned through AF-ROTC. Then had to provide a copy of our marriage license to allow my wife to have a dependent ID card. The government takes the word of the individual for nothing. Unless of course one is about to become President, or presumably Congress Critter, offices with specific qualifications listed in the Constitution itself. Then, "heh, I trust you man". It's absolutely FReeping insane.

I really meant the stricter forms of ID getting passports and federal positions after 9/11. Short forms or copies like Obama’s would never make it.
