BP Official Admits to Damage BENEATH THE SEA FLOOR

As I noted Tuesday, there is growing evidence that BP's oil well - technically called the "well casing" or "well bore" - has suffered damage beneath the level of the sea floor.

The evidence is growing stronger and stronger that there is substantial damage beneath the sea floor. Indeed, it appears that BP officials themselves have admitted to such damage. This has enormous impacts on both the amount of oil leaking into the Gulf, and the prospects for quickly stopping the leak this summer.

On May 31st, the Washington Post noted:

Sources at two companies involved with the well said that BP also discovered new damage inside the well below the seafloor and that, as a result, some of the drilling mud that was successfully forced into the well was going off to the side into rock formations.

"We discovered things that were broken in the sub-surface," said a BP official who spoke on the condition of anonymity. He said that mud was making it "out to the side, into the formation."

I beg to differ. I hold a significant amount of BP stock, too, as a legacy of sorts. The relief wells are a way to get past any pssible damage or lack of well seal and keep this welll producing.

The whole sea floor coming up

And people believe that????

I think the pay zone is 13,000 feet below the ocean bottom...

One little hole is going to allow the whole sea floor to come up???

As much as it sucks, huhh?

I would hope a president would act in the nations best interest, but it’s clear he’s only working on his agendas best interest. Friggin commies burn my ass hard.

You were saying ...

The whole sea floor coming up

I didn't see that in the article ... are you sure you're talking about this article?

Would it be possible to anchor a big tanker (or two) above the well head and capture the oil, then transfer it to another tanker to be hauled to the refinery?

No, they will attempt to kill this well via the relief wells. Not sure what your ownership of BP stock has to do with that?

Travis, while I agree with your assessment regarding how Obama may try to use this to his advantage in passing his anti-american agenda, I must tell you that when I use the term “game changer”, I mean as it pertains to life that currently inhabits this planet.

At this point, I do not care what that little, snot-nosed piece of stinking crap Obama has planned, because I believe that it pales in comparison to the damage that this oil catastrophe could potentially cause.

I will be the very first to admit that perhaps I am jumping the gun, perhaps I am over-reacting and buying into scenarios that are not likely, and honestly, I pray that I am. I will also say that if those relief wells fail to stop that flow when they are turned on to do that job, I will probably go off the deep end really fast. Sometimes I already feel like I may be on the edge of losing my mind.

If I may speak for Chris, this is a game changer. I’m sure deepwater drilling will become harder for companies. More rules, more regs.

It won’t just change the deepwater game, it will change (note: destroy) nearshore and land drilling as well. he administration will now easily, and with popular support, severe restrict all petrochemical drilling.

Our economy is very dependant on petrochemicals.

0bama has found his method to effectively kill the USA as we knew it, and will now be easily, and with popular support, be able to turn the USA into an at least 51% dependent or government employee nation.

We’re fu@ked.

This little “disaster” did it

Why else would 0bama refuse the help from 17 nations?

Why else would obama refuse to release the full force and fury of our very capable USCG and National Guard?

Why else would obama wait 50+ days to meet with the CEO of BP?

...as a former coastie, I know we could control what emenates far better than we currently are, especially with foreign help, if only our president would allow that, but it appears he’s HOPING for maximum damage.

Thank you for all the information. Very scary...

imagine a huge meteror hitting in the gulf...around the dinosaur era....

You mean that the methane released will be as if a meteor has hit the earth? Is there any clear explanation of the risks? You guys are not helping.

When you start talking “Sea floor caving in” I get pretty sceptical. Were talking about 10,000 feet of earth. That is 2 miles deep. i have a hard time believing that the ocean floor will collapse due to this.

Agree with you on that one, but we do have at least one methane deposit down there that was above the oil deposit. That methane came up and melted the rig. So the ground down there probably contains many pockets. It is at the bottom of an ocean. Worse case would be a significant shifting of land. A landslide. I would only expect to see that however after a nuke is used. We are however drilling two relief wells into the same sea bed.

Matt Simmons, oil industry investor, oil company insider, author of “Twilight in the Desert” (peak oil problem) holds the opinion that the Macondo well will never be capped and projects decades of spewing oil. Alarmist?

I didn’t see any of the ol’ enviro-weenies or the save the animal groups out there helping clean things up.....seems to me they’d be pitching in in droves...

Interesting, isn't it? Maybe the Hollywood crowd doesn't want to show up their ineffectual leader by rushing out in their little boats to save the day.
