Lennon and McCartney never actually wrote a song together. ‘A Day in the Life’ was the closest they ever came to collaberation. It splices two separately composed songs together. The good parts are the Lennon song (and sung by John.) The mundane lame parts are the McCartney song (sung by Paul.) I’ve always wanted to edit out all of Paul’s parts since they’re annoying, but I’ve never gotten around to it.

Mark David Chapman got the wrong Beatle.
Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

Did he make this statement from the back seat of his Maybach limo...from the private quarters of his private,35 passenger A330....or from the entertainment room of his 38,000 sq ft getaway chalet in Switzerland?

His music is still fantastic. When he and Lennon were together they had a nice little run ... name me one song he's done since then that isn't pop tripe.
Band on the Run
Live and Let Die ...

Once again, a talented, multi-millionaire (possibly billionaire, in McCartney's case) entertainer makes stupid comments that are reported as if he actually has a clue as to what he's talking about. Global warming is a hoax that has been pretty well exposed by now as the con that it was but Sir Paul apparently never realized that. There is no proof of 'global warming'. It was a carefully engineered hoax to justify government growth as a response to a manufactured 'crisis', Paul McCartney is an idiot for not knowing this. His comments are inane and rightly mocked.
These faded pop stars in their 60's just can't seem to enjoy their memories and their money but no, they feel they have to spout their uninformed opinions on issues they for which have no real understanding. As Laura Ingraham once wrote: 'Shut up and Sing'. Better yet Paul, just shut up.

Great artist, but not very bright. Definitely a shut up and sing moment.

I misunderstood the gist of your question... I agree totally. Paul’s middle section of the song is the dead spot. Lennon’s opening and closing sections are its greatness.
