you say you 'felt sorry for the blacks'

What you should be feeling is anger toward the Demon crat Party who's responsible for robbing blacks of their glorious American history. Read American in Black & White, it'll really piss you off!

Very ENJOYABLE film, thanks. I remember watching
Fitzpatrick’s films on Saturday afternoon TV in the 60s.

Makes me want to tour Natchez, but most of the good stuff is
probably gone. From historical readings, the lower part
of Natchez was a hooligan hangout. I remember seeing
some slave homes like those in the film, near highways in E Texas but never stopped to take pics. Gone now.

Hi,

I grew up in the South in the late 50’s. At that time, many whites and blacks lived in bleak situations (i.e. poor houses). This was because the South was just DIRT POOR at that time.

Even today I am sure that you can find a white or black child who does not even own a comb much less know how to us one.

So please, give us a break. Don't tell us that the blacks are being pushed down. At the time this film was taken whites were also being subjected to abject poverty.

My wife and I drove the 444-mile Natchez Trace last summer from Nashville to Natchez. While in Natchez, we took a guided tour of Melrose, which is now a National Historical Park. It was interesting.
