People - Dr. Nabeel Qureshi (from video)ANN ARBOR, MI – In an unprecedented and astonishing development, the City of Dearborn, through its mayor and its official website, has personally attacked the four Christian missionaries arrested at the annual Arab International Festival on June 18, 2010.  The Mayor’s intrusion into the case destroyed whatever semblance remained of an unbiased and professional law enforcement action following the illegal seizure of video cameras to prevent recording of the events surrounding the arrests.

One of the Christian missionaries, Dr. Nabeel Qureshi, MD, tore apart the mayor’s five page statement attacking the missionaries. “Oh Really, Mayor O’Reilly?” [Click here to see video]

Dr. Qureshi was engaged in a peaceful dialogue with several Muslim youths. The other three missionaries were merely videotaping the conversation when the Dearborn police moved in, seized the cameras, and then made the arrests.

The four Christian missionaries were arraigned on criminal charges on Monday morning, July 12, in Dearborn’s 19th Judicial District Court. The Thomas More Law Center, a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan is representing all of the Christian missionaries.

The Thomas More Law Center defends and promotes America’s Christian heritage and moral values, including the religious freedom of Christians, time-honored family values, and the sanctity of human life.  It supports a strong national defense and an independent and sovereign United States of America.  The Law Center accomplishes its mission through litigation, education, and related activities.  It does not charge for its services.  The Law Center is supported by contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations, and is recognized by the IRS as a section 501(c)(3) organization.  You may reach the Thomas More Law Center at (734) 827-2001 or visit our website at www.thomasmore.org.

I trust TMLC has made the correct choice in defending the Christian missionaries.

Dearbornistan is not accepting Christian missionaries. Better to enter the emirate as an English teacher or some other occupation.

Both are crackpots.

As a Christian, I do not tolerate any kind of religious belief rammed down my throat or…anywhere near it…by anybody.

Hands off my personal religious life.

So called Christian missionaries are intrusive/crazy and should be run out of every country.

Exactly! Just like that guy who went from town to town trying to get people to change religions. What a nutcase! Some folks got tired of it and ran him plum outta town!

What was his name? Saul? Paul? I read about him in Acts, I think.

Hmm...

"Matthew 28: 18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

I wonder if you would like to tell Him that to His face. - unless you need to clarify.

If someone hadn’t preached the gospel to you, you’d be living a life apart from Christ and be headed toward a hellish destiny. Are you not grateful that someone shared the gospel of Jesus Christ with you?

I don’t think I’d put in quite the same way, but you have a point. As I said on an earlier thread, they were out to make noise, not converts. Peaceful discussion, my foot. They wanted a confrontation, and now they’re playing the innocent victims who’ve had their rights violated.

Thanks for your controversial comments :)

Unfortunately, we have not been granted the existence that welcomes the liberties you’re eluding to. Our Christian brothers and sisters deserve that latitude to occasionally overstep the boundaries of subjective ‘civil’ protocol.

That said, the issue is not about unwelcome evangelism - it is about dysfunctional law enforcement and the impact it has on our Constitutional guarantees.

So, they were arrested for ‘noise’ pollution?

Would you welcome the arrest of Muslims evangelizing at a Christian rock concert?
