Ever hear of a baseball player by the name of Sandy Koufax? Being Jewish, he refused to pitch the first game of the World Series in 1965. The LA Dodgers went on to lose that game 8-2.

The interesting question was, what if Game 7 of that series fell on a Saturday?

But at least Koufax was good enough to make an exception. This guy is probably in the middle-tier of secondary players.

I remember Sandy well. He was one of my baseball idols growing up. Forgot about his 65 Series - Yom Kippur thingy. Found this interesting in wiki:

“In 1962, the Dodgers moved from Los Angeles Coliseum, which had a 250-foot left field line, to pitcher-friendly Dodger Stadium. The new park had a large foul territory and a comparatively poor hitting background. Koufax was an immediate beneficiary of the change, lowering his home ERA from 4.29 to 1.75.”
