Or so we've been told. Then there's guys like Reagan, Obama, Scott Brown, and even idiot Al Franken that prove the assertion wrong. Independents vote on their perception of likability and conviction, not their perception of moderation. How have hard core leftist Dems gotten elected to the Senate from North and South Dakota, that both lean right? By running for office and winning primaries in states that weren't supposed to elect people like them.
The media can try all they want to marginalize O'Donnell. It won't do them any good. Nobody this year is going to base their vote on stories about her taxes or something she apparently said long ago. She may not win. But if she doesn't, it won't be because Katie Couric didn't want her to.
We need to do something about the media.
You mean things like talk radio, the internet, and a certain cable news channel, that have rendered the "media" rather helpless to prevent the wave headed the Dem's way? Seems we already are doing something, no? Wanting to "do something" about others speaking their mind is a roll for liberals and statists, who's views can't stand scrutiny, not for people that respect liberty.
Didn't help in 2008, did it?

Straw man. "Doing something" does not mean, "prohibiting" it can mean many things, such as the establishment of new networks, using the internet more effectively, working talk radio, or finding a way to counter the media talking points.
