With all due respect to your “Blogger Overlord” position, and your memory is probably better than mine, I found a couple of interesting threads about Rathergate. It was before I joined FR, although I followed the story closely here. What’s interesting is that the articles that these threads originally linked to seem to be gone - but the FR threads remain to jog our memories.

As far as I know, members of Free Republic were the first to question the forged documents that were presented by Dan Rather on CBS in an attempt to discredit President Bush.

Yes, I know that Free Republic is not a blog, but according to the article below it was connected to the blogosphere of political commentary when blogs like Power Line and Little Green Footballs followed FR’s lead and became involved in the Rathergate story within 24 hours of the September 8, 2004, CBS broadcast.
