I don’t know about that. This morning I was listening to this guy on WABC radio called Crummy or something (I’d call him Crappy) and he was actually making fun of Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas” rendition. There will always be people who don’t understand the past; but there will always be keepers of the flame who will never let the greats of yesteryear die.

While your wife may not know the name of George Harrison I’m sure she’s heard of the Beatles, right?!

Yes, the same way I've heard of Stephen Foster. A mark of an era, maybe a couple of noted tunes, but nothing more.

And I am confident that Bing Crosby's White Christmas will still be played decades from now, long after John Lennon's "Happy Christmas/War Is Over" featuring the Plastic Ono Band is long forgotten. That song, of course, is as much a tribute to Crosby's power as a song stylist as it is to the song itself. Irving Berlin wrote a genuine standard, and Crosby gave the defining performance of it.

Yeah, greats like Chuck Berry, Bobby Vinton, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Doris Day, etc.

I’m here laughing my ass off. Boomers are *expecting* that people respect their music?

Hah!

The Beatles are great, but the didn’t *invent* anything. It was already there when they got there, and it carried on just fine after they left.
