Juan Williams: Palin can't stand on intellectual stage with Obama

While appearing on Fox News Sunday, Juan Williams slammed Sarah Palin's intelligence.

"There's nobody out there, except for Sarah Palin, who can absolutely dominate the stage, and she can't stand on the intellectual stage with Obama," Williams said.

Since becoming John McCain's Vice-Presidential running mate, the left has repeatedly used this line of attack. In fact, a Google search on the term "Sarah Palin is stupid" returns over 67 million results.

Apparently, the prospect of Sarah Palin running for President in 2012 has liberals doing everything they can to denigrate the former Alaska Governor before the primary even begins.

Has Sarah Palin made mistakes? Sure. She is, after all, a human being - contrary to what liberals would have us believe.

But compare her mis-steps to the man Newsweek once called "God of All Things".

Conservative columnist Michelle Malkin listed several gaffes Obama made during the 2008 election. Among those gaffes:

* Last May, he claimed that Kansas tornadoes killed a whopping 10,000 people: “In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.” The actual death toll: 12.

*Earlier this month in Oregon, he redrew the map of the United States: “Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go.”

In 2009, John Hawkins spelled out ten of the young Administrations biggest mistakes to that point, including:

This statement by the dem/lib/prog/pop Williams is most likely true; if one is referring to educational endeavor.

What education would that be? What (documented) degrees does he hold and from where? What were his (documented) grades in said schools?

Obama is a good family man because he never left his chil'run or his o'l lady. A real role model.

In reality he'd rather play golf or basketball than spend time with his chil'run.

You're absolutely right.

This love affair with “intellectualism” is a joke. People like Chris Matthews and Jon Stewart...... consider themselves intellectual. Intellectualism is a self image that people want to create, not a tangible result.

It's first about philosophy (positions on issues), then character (will they do what they said they will do), and finally the KSA’s + motivation (the formal education/experience/intellect the tools to accomplish “something”). The problem I see today is that we lay far to much value on being smart vs. being good, on how pretty it looks vs. how it performs or what it accomplishes..........

Do think maybe there is a reason why we sell cars today without even really mentioning performance or any sort of metrics anymore? What they really sell is a feeling, a mood, and a self image no differently than tobacco years past or most of the so called green products that really aren't more environmental than their non-green marketed products.

Honestly, I think this is a distracting tactic. If Obama is “intelligent”, then we need the biggest “idiot” we can find. I think one of the biggest problems right now is we do not have a simple person (by simple, I do not mean stupid) with simple, common sense ideas in power.

Imagine how great it will be when we get a leader who simply loves God, America and believes in people. That is literally all we need. Every policy will flow from that foundation. We do not need anymore of Obama’s “intelligence”.

Gaffs aside, is there any objective evidence as to Obama’s purported intelligence? Seriously.

Barack obamas problem is that he is booksmart but he lacks any deductive reasoning skills. It comes from living a sheltered life that is atypical of an american yyouth. While most kids his age were skateboarding, fixing cars and bikes, surfing or shooting pellet guns at pests, he was being shuttled between a bunch of rich, self loathing ivy league white liberals and muslims in, being taught all sorts of amazing things..... Except how to do basic things every american boy should know. Those basic things our parents made us do as kids taught us how think on your feet. I bet you that obama doesnt even know how to change a flat.

I guess Juan missed the Biden-Palin debate...she more than held her own. I’m certain she could do the same with Obama.

And you can bet next debate, if she runs, she will be far more prepared -on her terms, not by her "handlers." Even Robin Roberts on the recent GMA interview admitted that Palin came to the debate very prepared. I read somewhere that when she was on the road during her book tour she would fall asleep with briefing materials (are you listening Charles?). If she held her own with a 40 year Senator last time, she would mop the floor with Obama if that debate ever happens.

take away his teleprompter and the biased reporters who ask him the questions he doesn’t know in advance, and he’d be in big trouble.

Do it the way they always do it and I’m afraid they’d make Sarah look like an idiot. And the idiot voters would believe she is.

Ewwww. I did a search on obama / reggie. I now know why some seemingly lesser important naughty bits of legislation are a priority for obamma.

All they need is a tent, sheep, spurs, and pudding.

I cannot imagine why this is not more radar depicted in the media?

I watched the debates and I remember 0bama being interviewed by O’Reily and others and I have seen enough to know that the man is intelligent. I’ve also seen him stutter and stammer and commit innumerable gaffes. Sarah has had her share of gaffes too. So did George Bush (who I believe equals or exceeds the intelligence of anyone on the left). 0bama gets softball questions during interviews and Sarah’s comments are edited in ways that make her look bad.

I’m smart enough to know that the teleprompter creates an impression that he is intelligent and articulate. I doubt if his grades were very good. I think he is a “hustler” and did the minimum to get by. He has been helped and promoted by likeminded people and true believers for the cause of liberalism. He was chosen to carry that flag for good reason. He has charisma and those who critisize him will be dismissed as racist and “mean spirited.”

I absolutely hate his politics. His agenda is poison to our country. But I don’t dismiss him as an ignorant fool and I don’t think you should either.

Sarah is certainly smart but on a measure of intelligence I’m sure she is as intelligent as ZERO. Unlike ZERO I do think she earned her grades and achievements with hard work and determination. I’ve seen each of them in situations when they had to think on their feet and I believe they are fairly closely matched in that regard.

Zero has gone virtually unchallenged by the press. When Sarah is on Fox News she shines because she is in friendly territory and will not likely be asked “gotcha” type questions.

In order to find the right person to lead our country we need to measure CHARACTER. Sarah has it and ZERO doesn’t. She truly is winsome and has many Reaganesque qualities.

That is where the devil does his best work, the intellect! Just look at all of those dumb ass scientists who push the theory of evolution minus all of the big holes in it and of course minus it’s competitors which are based on facts. Pretty smart there, eh?

Could you clear something up for me please? I always thought that all records relating to the president had to be open, including his college records. Is this a voluntary thing? Even if it is; what do you have to hide? It’s just plain creepy. Makes you think something bad is there or else they would be public knowledge.

I find it hard to believe that someone can’t get ahold of them & do a big release. Someone should contact the Wikileaks guy..............seems like his cadre of people could surely post them.............

Have you ever seen a video of that happening?

Just FYI, there actually is a time when everyone except POTUS will be saluting. It happened when George W. Bush was President. It happened when BJ Clinton was President. It even happened when Reagan was President. Just because you see the military people in a sharp salute and the civilians with their hands over their heart, it doesn't mean that (any) POTUS is being disrespectful by having his hands crossed at his waist. If "Hail to the Chief" is playing at that time, it is entirely inappropriate for any POTUS to be saluting himself.

Every time someone sends me a picture alegedly of Pres__ent Obama doing a "crotch salute," search for video of that pose reveals that the still is from the beginning of "Hail to the Chief," just after everyone else comes to a salute, but before Obama starts moving from his "at ease" position. There is no disrespect in that.

I don't like him either, but lieing about him doesn't help our cause.

Good response. Whatever Obama's actual level of intelligence, I would say that he is handicapped by thinking that he is smarter than he is. They say that he always feels that he is the smartest person in the room. This is a bad character trait and always hurts people, even if they are smart.

Palin, I think, does not harbor these feelings. She has character, she has honesty, she trusts herself -- and she does not expect to have the right answer 100% of the time (that's why advisers are hired).
