Juan Williams: Palin can't stand on intellectual stage with Obama
examiner.com ^ | 12/26/2010 | Joe Newby

Posted on 12/27/2010 6:14:26 AM PST by FredJake

While appearing on Fox News Sunday, Juan Williams slammed Sarah Palin's intelligence.

"There's nobody out there, except for Sarah Palin, who can absolutely dominate the stage, and she can't stand on the intellectual stage with Obama," Williams said.

Since becoming John McCain's Vice-Presidential running mate, the left has repeatedly used this line of attack. In fact, a Google search on the term "Sarah Palin is stupid" returns over 67 million results.

Apparently, the prospect of Sarah Palin running for President in 2012 has liberals doing everything they can to denigrate the former Alaska Governor before the primary even begins.

Has Sarah Palin made mistakes? Sure. She is, after all, a human being - contrary to what liberals would have us believe.

But compare her mis-steps to the man Newsweek once called "God of All Things".

Conservative columnist Michelle Malkin listed several gaffes Obama made during the 2008 election. Among those gaffes:

* Last May, he claimed that Kansas tornadoes killed a whopping 10,000 people: “In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.” The actual death toll: 12.

*Earlier this month in Oregon, he redrew the map of the United States: “Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go.”

In 2009, John Hawkins spelled out ten of the young Administrations biggest mistakes to that point, including:

Since Faux has Rove, Juan, Newt and Beckel on so much I have been turning them off more and watching old movies.

I used to watch Sean every night but with his all Newt all the time and Beckel, Juan and Rove I no longer even turm him on.

I think Sean has a man crush on DasNewt.

This statement by the dem/lib/prog/pop Williams is most likely true; if one is referring to educational endeavor.

However, it is also irrelevant.

It is similar to that statement made by Gen. Westmoreland to Gen. Giap (NVA) after the war was long over. Westmoreland stated words to the effect that "during the entire war (Vietnam), in any fixed battlefield, the US never lost a single encounter!"

To which Gen. Giap smilingly replied, "While that is true, it is also completely irrelevant."

Read and heed Mr. Williams....read and heed!

In the liberal world “intellectualism” is extremely important.

Hence they go to great lengths to collect the symbols of “intellectualism.” i.e. the ivy league eduction, a higher degree, using the venacular, belonging to certain groups..............

The problem is that it's most often garbage. They have garbage degrees from these ivy league schools in things like psychology, anthropology, sociology, political science, history.......... Degrees that don't require math. They belong to these groups and associations whose sole purpose is affirmation of ones greatness, but you seldom see the real success stories, the people with real creativity, intellect and leadership skills in these groups except as a guest speaker and honorary member who were recruited so that others in that group can lift themselves up through association with this person.............

Most of this “intellectualism” for the liberal amounts to no more than the high school kid that is EMO, the skater with his cloths, lingo, movies, magazines. The greeny with his Prius, the woman trying a bit to hard trying to stay youthful in old age. It's a self image some people want to have and spend an inordinate amount of time and money to create, albeit most of these “intellectuals” really aren't so smart if you look at them closely.

What really matters is results, not how many badges of “intellectualism” someone has collected. I once worked for a younger female (at Perot Systems years back) with a GED who had no college degree what so ever. She was damn good and she delivered results! To some people it's all about form, not function.

You’re insulting Daffy Duck. He didn’t need a teleprompter to read his lines.

You are right on. Even if it is about form not function, and suppose Obama has a higher intellect. So what? It is about philosophy, and the ability to find the right minds and delgate. Palin is a leader. She will put the right people in place, and let free enterprise have a chance. One of the biggest problems with the current administration is they truly don't think being a business owner is an honorable profession.

In fact, a Google search on the term "Sarah Palin is stupid" returns over 67 million results

Actually, this gives About 60,100,000 results (0.39 seconds)

"Barack Obama is stupid" gives more than twice as many About 143,000,000 results (0.11 seconds)

Their point?

One other pair of searches: "Sarah Palin is evil" returns About 2,260,000 results

"Barack Obama is evil" gives ten times as many About 22,300,000 results (0.18 seconds)

My suspicion is that Obama and the far left know what will happen the first time they go face to face, and they are scared.

re: stupidest, least accomplished person to ever be president

Amen! I never cease to marvel at how incompetent he and how is still worshiped by his followers. The only gift/skill I ever thought he might have was his ability to speak. But now that I’ve seen him in action without the teleprompter I realize even that is just another myth.

The number of people who will vote for again, regardless of his record in office, will go a long way to ushering him into a second term. He is not going to be defeated by bringing him down. The only hope of unseating him is to offer a candidate that is so much of what he isn’t that enough voters will see the difference and act accordingly.

It’s going to be tough, but I think it’s possible to do it.

Without the media functioning as a democratic party propaganda machine, the whole party would collapse. Twice in recent history they have wound up in power and twice they have been voted out of power in the next election. They even put an Obama worshiper in the moderate a debate.

If Obama had 1% the scrutiny of Sarah Palin he wouldn't have made it past Iowa.

” ...she can’t stand on the intellectual stage with Obama,” Williams said.

I have noticed that African-Americans or Afro-Americans or blacks or whatever they are calling themselves nowadays have trouble with prepositions. For example, Jesse Jackson’s famous “Stay out the bushes” comment whatever that means.

So I’ll interpret William’s remark as really meaning “Intellectually, she (Palin) stands far above Obama.”

I noticed that Sarah was very nice to Williams and took his side in the NPR flap. I think she even gave him a hug. So I can’t imagine Juan would turn and make snarky remarks about Sarah.

Right?

“I wonder what a search for “Obama is a Muslim” would return?”

Probably none - it is, after all, Google. The ones who linked the search term, “miserable failure” to a photo of GW Bush...I’ve taken all the Google apps I can find off my computer.

0bama is clearly very intelligent and also articulate.

The great masses of the people will more easily fall victim to a big lie than to a small one.

The broad masses of a population are more amenable to the appeal of rhetoric than to any other force.

The [Nazi party] should not become a constable of public opinion, but must dominate it. It must not become a servant of the masses, but their master!

All quotes by Adolf Hitler from Mein Kampf

To some people Obama really is perceived as "intellectual."

Realize, that these people define intellect through the amassing of symbols such as: Ivy league education, a higher degree, published author, world traveled, membership to quote on quote intellectual groups, attendance to certain functions and social circles, involved in higher education/being scholarly.......

To the usual type of person that fancies himself intellectual or lays great value in this, someone like Obama indeed is impressive, albeit it's all fluff.

Like when Clinton took credit for the Republican congress under Gingrich, and Obama will take credit for the tax bill that was shoved down his throat.

I ran into quite a few leftist types at university who, like Obama, knew culture, literature, as well certain bits of info about their field. I wouldn’t trust any of them to govern a steno pool. They’re leftists, for crying out loud, just like Obama. Like Obama they have a pitiful understanding of what America is about, but like him, they’re hell bent on changing it.

Obama lies way too much to ever be an effective elected leader. What he is principled on based on his ideology, he has to deny or hide. What he does discuss is against his principles and ideology, resulting in an ever increasing use of teleprompted discussion. His lies are piling up so deep he won’t be able to candidly speak for decades to come. If he does, he should be indicted. Forget any book deals.
