My mother-in-law wanted a daughter so desperately --- but she only had sons. When she was carrying my husband, she picked out a girl's name and some pretty dresses..

Lo and behold, she has another boy ---- and she dressed him in those dresses (luckily she didn't name him the girl's name). He doesn't remember any of it,but she has told this story to me many times. When we had our daughter, she gave me those dresses for her (surprised she didn't give them to me when we had our firstborn (son).

Now my hubby turned out fine, all man, but I wonder about his mother --- something just wasn't right about that woman.

>>My boys would bend a Barbie doll in half and use her as a gun, LOL!

They’re hard-wired for that - for a REASON - Thank You, God! :)<<

AMEN!!

Wow thats messed up. I don’t have a problem with him having a few outfits for playtime but to put him out in public as a tool is wrong.

My son is 3, and like so many other boys he loves Star Wars, shooting toy guns and pretending to kill things, with virtually any toy. One time he held two toy guns at once and shot at multiple human targets. The left would be aghast by his killer instinct. And through it all, he’s still sweet and understanding as can be. I’m quite proud of him! :)

When I was young children did not cross dress, and that included a taboo on girls wearing pants or slacks. We are on the lower half of the slippery slope that started when our society began to condone girls dressing like boys and women dressing like men.

For a look at real family values watch “19 Kids and Counting.” The Duggars dress all their children appropriate to their gender.

My father wanted a boy and got 4 girls. So, instead of adopting one, or borrowing a nephew, he tried to make us boys, at least the two oldest - mostly me. It’s was confusing. He taught us how to shoot and how to work on cars. He’d throw footballs at me, which would double me over when I tried to catch it. He’d take me hunting (I was the bird dog - he’d shoot it and I’d have to retrieve it. I would cry because the poor bird was dead).

Luckily, I was a bit of a tom-boy, so it wasn’t all bad. I still am at 51 and do pretty well in the world, although I seem to have missed some girl lessons. Decorating is a complete mystery to me. What the hell is “decore” and why is it so important? However, my husband and I have been married for 30 years and we have a great time. He loves the tom-boy side of me, as well as the girl side.

Our daughter is all girl - dresses, make-up, hair. She’s been that way from the beginning. We made sure she knew how to do some “boy” things. She is well acquainted with firearms, for instance, and can kill, skin and butcher something if she needs too. (Actually, better then me. I still cry). She married a guy who sews, otherwise, he’s pretty manly (and funny).

So, who knows. The kid will either grow up a drag queen or reject what his mother tried to make him and he’ll end up on the WWF.

I know exactly what you mean. My parents once bought me a toy gun for Christmas. I used it to annoy my little brother by shooting it at his teddy bear. And I’m a girl :)

"My lib SIL got her boys a porcelain tea set and a Fisher Price kitchen one “Holiday”.

I bought one for my daughter for Christmas. She will be 2 in March. My wife asked me if we should get the one in regular Fisher Price colors or the pink one. I said the pink one. She then asked when we have a 2nd child if it is a boy would he play with it, I shot her a look and replied F no.

Women that had boys that hoped to have girls instead shouldn't play games with this gender bending crap.

I would ask where is the father in all of this but somehow, I suspect that he is out of the picture. Children, especially boys, need fathers to role model appropriate behavior. They need to learn how to be male. When all you have to emulate is your mother and possibly her skanky boyfriends, this is what you get.

Traveling from Maryland to Michigan for Christmas, we had to make extra room for my boys collection of Nerf guns, including two Vulcans that are large bipod automatics, plus a couple foam swords, plus some airsoft guns.

I came home with a shotgun that I got for Christmas too. I guess we never grow up.

The things people will do to get their ten minutes of fame...

The kid is probably salvageable in some sense.
Write off the mom, though. Total loss!

And it’s a local story too, here near Seattle, so all the local news shows etc. are trying to sell it like it’s the cat’s meow!!

Don’t they have like Cub Scouts anymore? Jeesh!!!
