Now that this additive is going to be increased in gasoline I wonder how my lawn mower will take it. Or my neighbors gas chain saw and his other gas equipment will hold up.

Hope my old van conversion will be OK. Understand that the engine will have problems without expensive modifications. Anyone heard about this problem?

In South Dakota where corn ethanol is almost a religion, the state vehicle fleet was converted to flex fuel vehicles and exclusively used E85, an 85% ethanol gasoline blend. The state has now discontinued using E85, after an analysis of cost data showed that using E85 was 25% MORE expensive per mile despite E85 being on average 23 cents per gallon less expensive than gasoline. Note this lower price is exclusively due to massive subsidies and tax breaks.

It is a matter of simple physics. Any given quantity of ethanol produces about 40% less energy than the same quantity of gasoline. Any ethanol/gasoline blend thus has LESS energy than the same quantity of gasoline. The result is lower gas mileage.
