I got the family down the street with little girls, to accept foster kittens, from our shelter.
The first few times the girls came to visit me and the kittens they were delighted and ‘wanted one.’ I told them these were special kittens going to their furever homes that God had chosen for them. I was only watching over them until the time was ready.
The girls learned to recognize the black van that brought or took the new kitten litters. When they’d see the van they would wait on the sidewalk to ‘see.’ LOL...too cute.
Finally their Mom asked about what I was doing and I explained I was a foster for the shelter. Her girls actually helped socialize the kittens for their adoptive homes. A few weeks later I got a knock on the door. It was one of the girls and I told her I didn’t have any kittens right now. She smiled a big grin and said...Come to our house.
There in their den was a Momma cat with 3 kittens nursing. A box with a warmer in it etc. The girls said they were excited to be kitten guardian angels. I wondered how many of these kittens would be held on too.
The weeks past and soon the knock came again at the door. The girls had been crying that the little family had to go, but as Nina said, “they are happy tears because they are going to good homes.” I told the girls to come on in and check in my foster room....soon those tears turned to giggles and oooo’s and ahhhs....
Kitten season will be upon us soon...
