Bill Kristol’s Moronic Quote of the Day
C4P ^ | March 23, 2011 | Doug Brady

Posted on 03/23/2011 3:55:06 PM PDT by DB9

Today’s moronic quote of the day belongs to Weekly Standard (Weakly Standard?) editor Bill Kristol, and it wasn’t even close. Via CBS News (emphasis mine):

“I have a high regard for Sarah Palin, but I will say I’ve been disappointed since she resigned as governor,” he said. “I thought she had a real chance to take the lead on a few policy issues, do a little more in terms of framing the policy agenda. I don’t think she’s done that."

So, according to this beltway genius, she hasn’t taken the lead on ”policy issues” or helped with “framing the policy agenda”? This is truly a WTF moment. Who led the fight against Obamacare? Whose brilliant “death panels” metaphor for the rationing contained therein framed the debate to the point of almost defeating the bill? If she had had even a little assistance from some of Kristol’s beltway chosen, the bill would have gone down. Which political leader, other than perhaps Obama, is most responsible for the Republican sweep in November? Who led the successful fight against cap and tax? Who flew down to Arizona to stand shoulder to shoulder with Governor Jan Brewer in her fight to force Obama to protect the border? Who has been more vocal in attacking Obama’s disastrous fiscal policies? I could go on, but you get the point. Are these not important policy issues? If not, what are?

If you could, Bill, name one other Republican who has had the fortitude and, yes, the cojones, to take the fight directly to Obama with the effectiveness and tenacity she has over the past two years. In fact there’s nobody even close. Governor Palin has been a constant thorn in Obama’s side since his inauguration, and has been pounding him on practically every issue of importance since she emerged on the national stage. Or am I wrong and I’m confusing Governor Palin with someone else? If that’s the case, Bill, perhaps you’ll enlighten us. If not, shut up and go away. People are free to support any candidate they want, of course, but to say something this detached from reality and, well, profoundly stupid, calls into question everything else you utter or write.

no kidding. I get so sick of the “she resigned as governor” crap.

She was a lame duck, she was able to put in her choice, she was able to cut most of the idiotic, ridiculous and expensive left-wing “Ethics” law suits out that were costing her state valuable tax dollars.

I appreciated that she knew when to quit. What about Obama? He should quit and save our nation unbelievable pain, but he doesn’t know how. He will stick it out and hurt us more and more.

I would rather have someone who knows when to resign than someone who outstays his welcome.

I agree with him. I’m not sure why you take it so personally.

I am so sick of the elites on our side trashing her before the race even starts.

You never hear Kristol or Rove etc trash Romney, Huck, Daniels, or any other candidate (supposedly) on our side.

I do like Palin. I don’t have a candidate yet. The primaries don’t start for the better part of a year.

I'm talking about the "electability" "why bother" "not qualified" "no chance" "reality star" "diva" trashing (nothing related to policy, issues). Not the critique for making a dumb statement. Big diff.

Love Palin or not, you can't argue with that statement.

Why is it that the Palin critics always seem to be still searching for a candidate. It's quite amazing.

Must be nice to play offense and no defense.

Your right, Palin is the only one speaking out against the socialist agenda. Mitt has been locked up in a sound proof booth for the last year. Where are you Mittins, come out and take a stand. As for Bill Kristol, the only way people know he is alive is when he critisizes Sarah.

If Bill Kristol isn’t gay, he’s missing a great opportunity.

Billy Kristol has finally succeeded in making Billy Carter appear to be a brilliant Anaylist and Strategist by comparison! Do any of You other Freepers still waste money on Kristol’s Rag? Kristol is clearly a Beltway Whore who doesn’t give a shame about America!

She was also a pain in Obama’s side before the election. People tend to overlook the fact that the only time McNasty led Obama in the polls was after he named Sarah his choice for VP. They maintained that lead for three weeks until the senile Senator suspended his campaign to return to DC and vote for TARP.

The greatest thing about Our Lady of Wasilla (and there’s a lot of competition for the top spot) - is that she terrorizes all the right people.

Re-read the quote. If accurate, Kristol really doesn't make sense. Palin has been and is the only Republican who has led on policy changes! What Kristol is proving is he's another who truly would rather have a 2nd Obama term than have a Tea Party member in the Oval Office.

What gets me the most are the coordination of these Palin attacks, and it has to be coordinated. Notice how none of the other potential Obama opponents are ever attacked, let alone even seriously criticized. Not Jeb Bush, not Ron Paul, not Newt Gingrich, not Mike Huckabee, not Mitt Romney.

These establishment types have proven there really isn't a great deal of difference between the two party leaderships. More and more they're begging for a Major Third Party Opponent.

And you want to know something very interesting?

With all the RATs and all the RINOs lining up to give Sarah another smack Hillary and her cadre of flying monkeys never do.

Just sayin'...

They maintained that lead for three weeks until the senile Senator suspended his campaign to return to DC and vote for TARP.

Said differently, they maintained the lead until McNasty realized they could actually win, and true to form, quickly sabotaged his (and Sarah's) own campaign.
