Where you have a point that the reasons behind the hatred need consideration, they are an excuse for the hatred that leads to terrorism. If, as you used for an example, Muslims are driven to acts of terror due to the Wests, especially the US, intervention militarily in numerous Muslim countries, then why is such a small percentage actually participating in terrorism? If the presumed root causes are driving terror, then every Muslim, or at a minimum, those in the affected countries, as well as all the ecology true believers, and everyone who is part of any cause where terror has been used as a tool would become terrorists. The cause or situation that is claimed to be driving terror are not the cause, they are the rationalization excusing the terror driven by their hatred. Israel, for example, is often cited as simply by existing on presumed Muslim lands are the driving force behind the terror acts perpetrated against their citizens. But this does not explain the exact same acts against the Jews in the Middle East which occurred relatively regularly well before Israel, or even Zionism, came into existence. I believe that for almost all terrorists the ability for pure hatred preceded their finding a cause which they use as the vehicle to give nobility to their acts of terror.
Tell you what, some of what you say has merit, but come into by field, whether academically, think tank wise, or government terrorism analyst position, and spout your simplified ‘root cause’ of terrorism argument and see what happens. Dude, if the ‘root’ cause(s) of terrorism could be simplified down to simply being exactly what you assert, you could publish such and be a millionaire. Let me know when you do and become such. =.=
