A Chilling Study in Cause and Effect - Finding the true cause of the Kandahar Riots
Illinois Review ^ | April 3, 2011 A.D. | John F. Di Leo

In a small town in Florida on March 20, the pastor of a small church held a public event: burning a koran for his audience and a video camera. His American Christian audience reacted as one would expect from them: they were happy to be a part of this provocative event; they returned to their homes and jobs after the service, and went on with their lives.

The world continued to turn… nobody of substance cared about Pastor Jones’ latest attempt at news coverage… until almost two weeks later, when it made the news half a planet away, in Afghanistan.

The president of Afghanistan denounced the event; imams and mullahs hammered it in their mosques. Their Afghan muslim audience reacted as one would expect from them: they streamed out into the streets, hunting down foreigners, beating hundreds of UN aides, NATO staffers, contractors, travelers, journalists, soldiers… rioting in the streets, burning the shops in their own neighborhoods, destroying property, attacking innocent bystanders. At least a hundred injuries and dozens of killings were confirmed by the second day of the riots.

In a world in which thousands die tragically every day – from starvation to murder, from disease and neglect – these events might not seem particularly newsworthy. When aren’t there riots in that part of the world? When aren’t innocents killed? It happens every day.

FR is not prone to self-aggrandizing publicity stunts which accomplish NO good.

The innocents referenced died because of Minister Moron's anti-Christian acts

It seems to me that the stokers of the religion of the perpetually offended did the killing.

Are you suggesting that killing people because of an obscure book burning is okay?

I'm going to give you a hint: These folks want to terrorize you into saying what you're saying, they want you to perpetually apologize, they want to dominate you into being a blubbering slob, they want you to be diminished in every way as a human being.

It seems to have worked.......

What these people attack is the fact that we have the freedoms in this country to insult their Moon God, whether it comes from a Church, a Newspaper, or a Web Forum.

Of course, he wouldn't. And pointing out that Mohamed did worse illustrates the difference in the religions for better than this phony preacher's stunt.

Of course the Phony is provoking muslims. He wouldn’t be doing it if it wasn’t provoking them. If they just yawned and went on he would have never even thought of the Koran.

Great. Now you did it. So horribly offended by your post, WriteOn vivisectioned a convenience store clerk. It's all your fault.

If I posted it with the intent to offend and infuriate you and to provoke you to violence then morally it would be my fault. If I filled your head with anti-Catholic propaganda and falsehoods then I would be morally responsible for what happened.

There is a huge difference between doing things intentionally and unintended consequences. These consequences were EXACTLY what the phony preacher wanted exactly.

If you pointed out to one of these nuts the personal superiority of Jesus over Mohammad they might cut your head off.

No book burning required,

Books, drawings, words, internet postings, TV shows, movies , music. Should we shut them all down because something might offend?

How the Hell do you know what the pastor wanted? Did you talk to him personally?

You can try and justify endangering our soldiers if you like but I will oppose it whether from Code Pink or Phony Preacher.

Hundreds of thousands of men GAVE THEIR LIVES so that Jones could burn his books. You may not like it, but if you want to ban it, please go to a country where your ideas on freedom will be better received.

Right or wrong, I think the pastor was simply sick of our government officials bending over for pot-bellied savages. Clearly, these pot-bellied savages will never like us. We can tell they don't respect us. We had fewer problems when they feared us. I'm all for returning to the days of fewer problems.

You blathered “... IF OUR TROOPS’ JOBS WERE NOT MADE MORE DIFFICULT....” and then later, “Look I despise Islam and believe it to be the work of Satan....”

Now you’ve done it. If you think those Afghan gentlemen were upset by that stunt by “MINISTER MORON,” wait’ll they get a load of this thread, esp. your intolerant remarks about their fine religion.

I’m curious as to just how you arrive at the conclusion that this pastor is “phoney” as you put it. There are Christians who believe very strongly in rebuking the doctrines of demons, and this man clearly believes this to be the case.

It wouldn’t happen to have anything to do with some sort of denominational rivalry on your part, would it?

If abortion protestors and picketers were somehow blamed for a rampage among pro-abortion groups, you’d advocate shutting down the protests, right? They caused the violence, under your line of thinking.
