Loren, You seem to equate “birthers” to “truthers” or other type of partisan doubters, but the birth certificate issue is different because Obama, himself has intentionally increased the doubt by doubling down on his refusal to be open about who he is and what he believes.

I'm not seeing the difference. Moon hoaxers argued that NASA increased doubt by not photographing the moon, or by taping over the landing films. Truthers argued that Bush increased doubt by not testifying at the hearings. MLK assassination conspiracy theorists argue that the government has increased doubt by sealing the investigation.

I understand that you think it's substantively different, but it's not a legitimate reason to heighten your doubt on this issue that when Birthers asked Obama to jump, that he didn't respond 'How high?'

The problem that I see with the certificate of live birth is that his name on all official records was not Barack Obama until he was at Columbia College. That’s when he changed his name. He needs to explain that.

What official records are you thinking of? Because I can think of at least three known pre-Columbia uses of his name. First was his Selective Service application. Second was his high school yearbook. Third were the poems he had printed in an Occidental magazine. Heck, four if you count the fact that the COLB reflects the information on his original birth certificate.

A certificate of live birth is not proof of anything, except that his mother reported a birth. There are just too many contradictions in Obama’s life history that beg explanation, like the numerous phony SS# that he has used and the fact that Obama’s name was NEVER Barack Obama until he started school at Columbia College and decided to take the Muslim name. Did he change his name officially?

We know that his name was Barry Soetoro and that he was adopted by his step father, which would have probably resulted in a new birth certificate. We also know that his mother could not have been legally married to Barrack Obama because he was already married to a woman in Kenya. In Hawaii, an unmarried mother’s name was listed on the child’s birth certificate, not the father’s name, by law.

I’m not really questioning where Obama was born, but rather what he is hiding. Inquiring minds want to know what it is that Obama does not want us to know. Why all the subterfuge?
