It’s not that bad. Other freepers have also been making this point. That flattering and contributing to these Democrat hacks is part of the cost of doing business. They can make Trumps life hell if they want revenge. You want to build...you gotta pay them off

“Good-cop, bad cop” is a trick played on criminal suspects. The “good cop” acts like the suspects friend and says the things the suspect wants to hear. The suspect starts to trust the “good cop” and tells him things.

I see the Obama-Trump game as having Trump draw conservative activists away from real conservative candidates to waste their time and money helping Trump. Trump won’t win (unless the birth certificates of all the other candidates have been stolen) but the people who are most suspicious of Obama will be wasting their time and money supporting Trump (who isn’t even close to conservative), and that means that someone like McCain might be able to win the Republican nomination again.

I imagine thet Trump’s many bankruptcies and his casino businesses have probably left him with some ‘legal vulnerabilities’ (even if he isn’t actually guilty of anything, allegations could sink the kind of businesses he’s in), and so I suspect he has been ‘persuaded’ (Chicago style) to help out Obama. Trump has always been a fast-talking sales guy, and I think he has been hired as a salesman.

Ross Perot made his first big money from a contract with the Texas Social Security system, and he got Clinton elected twice. Trump’s businesses are also very vulnerable to politicians and ‘inspectors’ being friendly. I see a pattern.

Do you actually believe he was born in Hawaii?

Have you noticed that it’s the most rabid Palin supporters who are bashing Trump the most? I like Sarah and she would be far preferrable to Huckabee, Romney, Gingrich or Daniels but it’s almost worship.

Yeah. Trump is seen as a Johnny come lately who is stealing supporters from Palin. Both are unconventional while Pawlenty, Huckster, Romney are all in the dull gray middle. My opinion is only Trump can get the money together to beat Obama. But he might not run

Those are some good points. I’m not sure people realize how difficult Obama will be to defeat. He has virtually the entire news and entertainment media in his corner. There will also be significant voter fraud and the youth and blacks will be back, even if not in quite the numbers of ‘08. I also think Soros or someone like that will manipulate things as the election gets closer to make the economy seem better than it is.

*** So that makes it OK, right? ... Principles? Who needs them as long as business is good... ***

It's not about 'business is good', its about staying IN business.

Every big to semi-big, or big company that does business in or with a RAT controlled city, like say Chicago, has to donate to the rats, its part of the cost.

FYI, Trump just completed Trump Towers in Chicago and if he didn't grease the wheels it never would have been completed on time, or now stay open. City inspectors would Fine him for everything under the sun: Elevators, Fire Extinguishers, or Trash Disposal.

Now that's a principle too - loyalty to your employees and their families by keeping your business open. My whole point is why a Republican, or Conservative, would donate to a Rat Pol. Now as to Trump's principles, we really don't know what they are do we. Just that he loathes Obama.

I've been in Commercial Construction for 41 years now, many of them spent handling Hi-Rise Projects in Chicago. The last person you want to tick off is an Inspector. To avoid that you *take care* of his bosses (the Pols). It sucks but you have to do it or close your doors any layoff everyone. BUT it also doesn't stop you from donating to 'R's' too.

Sorry for the day late reply. I thought I hit POST before I had to go yesterday.

Sorry, "pay to play" doesn't cut it in Conservative politics.

Now as to Trump's principles, we really don't know what they are do we.

Actually, we do. His record and statements have been documented quite well, and links to them have been posted within this thread and the other Mark Levin/Trump ZOT thread from last night.

The bottom line is that Trump's principles are pretty much the same as Bloomberg's and now that he has spotted a potential opening for himself in the GOP, he has had a sudden "Road to Damascus" conversion, beginning at CPAC.

That won't fly.

Truthfully I don't read most Trump threads as I'd never vote for him.

I was just tying to explain how the Commercial Construction Industry works in Chicago. It's a dirty game(1). And the *winners* donate to RAT pols in City Hall - or Springfield. That's how one *used to* get on the 'Preferred Bidders List' as a 'Qualified Company' (not illegal as there'd be like Six Contractors named).

(1) Back in 'the olden days' you couldn't get a set of Blueprints 'Approved' by the City on an expedited basis unless a $20 Bill was paper-clipped to the bottom drawing. Naturally that has now been cleaned up and stopped.

Addendum to my post

At one time in my career I was the Chief Estimator at a certain company. One day the Field Supt walks into my office and asks me to sign my name to a proposal he had worked up for a No Bid Contract - which just happened to be for an amount just under that where the work would require Competitive Bidding (this was for a Gubmint Regulated Utility).

I REFUSED.

By doing so I was putting my job at risk as the Supt's mother was the Vice President and both were 'this close' to the owner.

But I have MY Principles too.

The issue is not Trump attacking Obama. No one on the right has a problem with that. We oppose a charlatan and hustler with long-standing ties to the left, running as a Republican with the aid of the leftist-media oligarchs including Ruppert Murdoch.

I thought Murdoch ran Fox. Are they good or evil today? In any case, do you feel the issues Trump raises regarding Obama are valid, and do you feel that by delegitimizing Trump, Levin will give cover to those seeking to make certain Obama questions taboo, or something "only quacks care about?" As in, oh, there's another crazy birther like Trump - tyhere's another bozo who wants to talk about Obama's past rather than this country's future.
