It's a holdover from long ago when blacks were disrespected as a matter of course by the general white public. In my grandfather's time, he was expected to say 'yes sir' to white men who were half his age, and well below his actual station.

Even in my father's day, black men had to be careful about asserting any sort of altitude around whites, though they weren't likely to get lynched for 'crossing the line'.

In my generation (boomer), the culture had matured enough, that if respect was earned by a black man, it was given freely by the whites around him. That's my experience, anyway. Others' mileage may vary.

Very true, as a white child I saw it first hand in the South in the 1950s and '60s.

Which is why, LLS, I said I (only) kinda feel sorry for them. These poor kids don't know any different, it's the way they are being raised.

I don't subscribe to the idea of taking out on the kids the fact their parents are a-holes, but I sure wouldn't be upset if one of the kids got put in their places by a classmate that knows how to put down a bully!

I understood what you meant. I really did. I used the opportunity to vent a bit but it was not intended to be directed at you. I am perturbed... that's a nice word... I am perturbed that they constantly are living like Saudi Royalty on our dime. They come from a hateful family... they were reared in wright’s church and learned from an early age to hate according to wright and their parents... I just think it is awful that such a hateful and evil man can be president and that some voodoo queen is reading entrails in the White House. I guess I have a lot of disdain and dislike for the entire clan.
