This does make me wonder, though. Surely other blacks were born in Hawaii in 1961, if not at Kapiolani at Hickham or Pearl. How are their COLBs filled out?

Although Hawaii has been home to many mixed race Polynesian and Asian people, contemporary reports suggest that Barack Obama Sr. was the only black man on the island at that time. He was unquestionably the only African enrolled at UH during that time.

Hawaii had almost a million people at that time and is the home of multiple military bases. Barack Sr. was not the only black man in the State of Hawaii in 1961.
