I shudder to think that even THIS administration was SO unprepared for the outcome — success OR failure — of this operation before, during and after taking on this mission.
A professional staff would have scripted every eventuality and had a prepared response for every conceivable occurrence. It’s NOT that they failed to respond to events, but that they so thoroughly failed to ‘anticipate’ even the most obvious alternatives to their intended results.
These clowns are beyond pathetic. They don’t HAVE a prepared and critiqued narrative going in; they can’t seem to stick to the narrative they started with; they don’t even seem to try to be objectively ‘reasonable’ with whatever narrative they’re parading around at the moment.
Notice how thoroughly they ‘burned’ the Pakistanis ? It’s a damn fine thing we no longer need ports, bases or overland routes into Afghanistan to support continuing operations by our forces or allies still on the ground there ...
Of course, the ONLY reason we happened to burn ‘em was the peculiar coincidence of OBL’s presence in that humble hut secluded in the most exclusive, upscale retirement community for civil and military retirees of the Pakistani ruling class. Damn shame what he put over on ‘em all this time ...
Oh, I’m sorry. Notice how the Pakistanis hung themselves out to dry, housing their most honored guest so lavishly in almost the worst neighborhood for any hope of ‘plausible deniability’ concerning their complicity in his escape and evasion over that past decade ? It’s a damn fine thing they have no further need of aid, support or just plain amicable relations with us any time soon ...
Sorry, I almost neglected to mention how thoroughly brilliant Imam Hussein was to come up with T.H.E. only conceivable strategy to so pollute this operation and its outcome that it will likely go down in history as his most profound foreign policy and national security cock-up — no matter what else happens during the remainder of his term ...
But I’m sure Imam Hussein will forever treasure the brownie points he racked up with all the Ummah by making sure OBL was fittingly and reverently buried at sea with all the proper Islamic rituals to give him the most expedient entry to Paradise commensurate with his lifetime of excellent good works and deeds. Gotta take care to stay on the sunny side of the ol’ Arab Street, y’know ...
This whole thing actually gives me hope that even the Stupidest Ol’ Party can find a way to ‘profit’ from this performance.
