From what my Dr has told me there is no test for FM. It is a process of what it is not nd if they can’t find anythign wrong with you it is called FM. She said that they used to call them hypochondriacs but now that everyone sues so they medicate them now and try to manage their every expanding complants. She also told me that if they really had to dal with diease like her patients do they would not know what to do. She specializes in treatment of type 1 diabetes. I don’t know but this is what she said and considering that 98% of those with FM also report childhood abuse....it does make you wonder.
Thanks for the very valuable info; I’ll check around.
Example: A bunch of us were invited to her house for dinner. She was supposedly in so much pain that my mom had to cook the entire meal and bring it to her house. Mom played hostess and waited on everyone hand and foot because my sister was in way too much pain. She sat in a chair and "flinched" every time she moved. Oh the sympathy she got. However, a few hours later, her husband came home with a brand new dirt bike. Suddenly she was pain-free and well enough to ride it all over the place...
Its possible I guess.
Believe me - I don’t discount fibromyalgia. One of my friends has flare-ups so painful that she can barely wear clothes. It’s heartbreaking to watch.
My doctor put me on that for a few months but could not take it. Can not remember why. I am very odd about meds and how I react to it. For instance, I can not take some pain pills. They give me severe headaches. I can not take anything with ibuprofen for the same reason. I am really under a whole lot of stress right now and my body is reacting to it. Told a friend that I needed to get away from everything for a few weeks but knowing me, I would just take the stress with me. : (
I have had fibro for many years and believe me, there was never any child abuse in my case. Some so called doctors should never be anywhere near patients. I know that for a fact. Hubby died because the stupid oncologist said he did not have anything related to cancer. Yeah, very funny since he died 3 months later from liver cancer. We should have sued that nut. How many other families went through what we did because of his stupidity. Even my family dr said we should have. Daughter died 2 years before him because the drs would not listen to her and us. We are fed up with doctors who should never be allowed anywhere near patients. Don’t get me started. When any of us have any unusual symptoms, I start doing research.
My Dr is very good and I am a 40 year type 1 diabetic. She knows what she is talking about and is a specialist. I trust her with my life literally.
I have it. I hate it. I refuse to let it stop me.
It just means I have to get creative sometimes, because it does hurt. At it’s worst it can feel like I’m being beaten by a gang armed with crowbars. But other days it’s mild enough that I can almost forget that it’s there.
Thanks for the tips. She suffers terribly with FM. I have told her about probiotics before but not sure if she ever really gave them a shot.
Did you ever read what I said or are you so focued on your story that you didn’t bother? *eyeroll*
