Here’s the relevant part of that.

After endorsing Reagan for president in 1976 and again in 1980, Paul became disenchanted, leaving the Republican party in 1987. The following year, he told the Los Angeles Times:

Paul (May 10, 1988): The American people have never reached this point of disgust with politicians before. I want to totally disassociate myself from the Reagan Administration.

Paul’s disaffection started early in Reagan’s presidency. “Ronald Reagan has given us a deficit 10 times greater than what we had with the Democrats,” Paul told the Christian Science Monitor in 1987. “It didn’t take more than a month after 1981, to realize there would be no changes.”

It’s not entirely clear if those 2 sentences are quotes. The next paragraph contains quotation marks, the disassociate paragraph doesn’t.

I will say that it’s certainly evidence to support your contention. I’m going to see if I can find the LA Times article.

I do believe that you’ll be able to find more problematic quotes if you dig for them. It just stands to reason.

This article was over a year old.

There'll most likely be a brand new one in a few days. The terrorist-loving flotilla is set to sail again. Ron Paul won't be able to help himself -- the Israel-bashing will fly out of his piehole like spam out of a Paulbot monkey's ass.

Source Three for Ron Paul quote-

"I want to totally disassociate myself from the Reagan Administration."

POLITICS 88 : Hopeless Presidential Race : Libertarian Plods On --Alone and Unheard

May 10, 1988|J. MICHAEL KENNEDY | Times Staff Writer Although he was once an ardent supporter of President Reagan, Paul now speaks of him as a traitor leading the country into debt and conflicts around the world.

'Disgust With Politicians'

"The American people have never reached this point of disgust with politicians before," he said on an airplane headed for his next campaign stop. "I want to totally disassociate myself from the Reagan Administration."

Yes but then you can take things further back, and say that israel is occupying land in the west bank.
Then you will say well that is the consequence of losing a war, then the others will say that it was the egyptians and syrians that were always at war with israel so why did the palestinians lose land. Then you will say, because im evangelical and i want all jews to die or convert when rapture comes. That being said, not all people here are as disingenuous as the bible thumping freaks and actually want what is good for israel.
Funny thing is that in my experience with Israelis(and I have mucho experience) is that more of them would want peace than evangelicals. In fact I have yet to speak to an evangelical who wanted peace in the region, because peace would be counterproductive to their dreams of the apocalypse.
Like a poster said above, israel is providing aid at the moment to gaza, so there is no need for a flotilla to go with supplies and given the current situation its not in israels incentive to allow random boats carrying god knows what. Whats important is that they dont overreact like last time, trying to divert them with no casualties is paramount.

3 sources which state that Dr. Ron Paul said-

"I want to totally disassociate myself from the Reagan Administration."

NewsWeek Feb 10 1988, Los Angeles Times May 10,1988, MSNBC Dec. 23, 2007 The MSNBC is a face to face with Dr Ron Paul and he does not deny the quote.

He never denies saying it.

Not once.

Anyhwere.

Hold on to that. Because most people don’t have that. And I’ve been winning my arguments because they’ve been using a different quote with “disassociate myself from the policies”
What you have there does appear to be a solid source. I looked at it, and that’s the source of the quote.

Good find.

The LA Times May 10 1988 is the original source. The other 2, from 2007 and 2008, are referencing that quote from that article. The LA Times article, with a reporter quoting Ron Paul directly, does seem like a good source. You really should just use that LA Times link instead of the other ones. People won’t question that original 1988 LA Times link except with an explicit denial from Ron Paul. That’s not likely to happen.

Well, the quote has never been as well defended as it was tonight. The LA Times is a legitimate source, and those quotemarks were put there by a legitimate reporter. Much better than the msnbc transcript, which had Russert doing the talking.

I’d like for R-U-N Paul to totally disassociate himself from the GOP.

Strange, I’ve never heard Paul call any of the thousands of rocket attacks against Israeli populations centers by his Palestinian comrades an “act of war.”

I doubt if you ever will. Cut and run hates Israel ALMOST as much as he hates America. Remember who he blamed for the 9/11 attack, it wasn't the terrorists, he blamed America.

Rick Perry probably has a lot of pictures of him and Al Gore for example

And the surrender monkey has plenty of pictures with his gods Cynthia McKinney, and Cindy Sheehan. Why aren't you showing those? I know cut and run worships them much more than Reagan. At least he never complains about their policies, like he did Reagan's

And Ron Paul ran for president in 1988 denouncing Regan, so stop the transparent propaganda.

Did you know famous Socialist Michael Harrington invented the term “neoconservative”
So if you don't support open-borders Ron Paul you are a neoconservative? Or are you just using it as a code-word for Jew?
Harrington created the term to disparage former socialists who saw the failures of the welfare state and communism.

Yes, former socialists who disagree with SOME elements of leftist orthodoxy.

Not conservatives.

Irving Kristol was on the Humbert Humphrey task force in 1968.
In 1972, he was one of the 60% or so of Americans who voted for Nixon.

In 1973, the Socialist Harrington called Kristol a neoconservative.

I would’ve thought that Conservatives, not Socialists, would get to decide who gets called Conservative.

Neoconservatives are not Conservative, and do not belong in the Republican Party. Perhaps they could be called neosocialists, neotrotskyites, or neoliberals.

He stood with Reagan in 1976.
He stood with Reagan in 1980.

RINOs were with Ford in 1976 and Bush in 1980.
