Carter did that to a lot of people. He was that bad.

Some of the celebs who liked Reagan drifted back to the Dems in the Clinton years. Things were going well and they could indulge themselves and get back on the good side of their Hollywood or New York neighbors.

Some of the celebs who vote for Republicans or conservatives are prickly nonconformists who can't stand to be put in any camp or party or faction. Lennon was like that. He didn't want to be assigned to the liberal or peacenik club, but that didn't mean he'd spend much time in the conservative club either.

Still it would be fun if he and Paul could be in the same room after all these years. I can imagine Lennon heckling when McCartney abased himself before Obama.
