I’m not sure what the objection is. In the East we still remember the canons against attending heretical conventicles. Surely you Latins don’t really want to show up at a “service” run by not merely heretics but actual apostates from any semblance of Apostolic Christianity. (Not being on the program doesn’t mean an invitation wasn’t extended: it could mean the local bishop took the attitude I’ve just enunciated.)

I would venture to say that today's Episcopalians and Anglicans are about as close to heretics as you can get.
