One of the odd things about the Internet is that so many people dont seem to understand that its real. Sure, they realize that theres a computer in front of them, a series of tubes, and then it gets kind of foggy. Its like they think there are magical pixies from the land of Lulz on the other end, as opposed to their family, friends, co-workers, and old boyfriends who are obsessively poring over their Facebook page.
Granted, they are aware that they do need to be careful about a few things: viruses, hackers, identity thieves, Nigerian princes who want to give them millions of dollars all the standard stuff. But there are some lesser known dangers of the Internet that can steamroll your life like Paris Hilton stampeding towards a line of cocaine.

My admittedly erratic homepage looks like a lunatic’s yard sale....LOL
[but thanks for enjoying it in spite of the manic disarray]....;]
“or failing to capitalize a letter can be cause for retribution. “
Thank God e.e. cummings didn’t live to see it.

It wasn’t a forum with accounts, it was just a simple chatroom that anyone could post in. Now I realize what psychos that format draws, I don’t participate anymore.
LOL...yeah those speling and gammer Nazis can be a pain...
Okay. I guess that reinforces the point of not revealing personal info.
I’ve got the DVD of that concert.
Get hold of it and watch it with his “commentary” going on...it’s hysterical...:)
Yah. I thought I was being careful enough by not giving my last name or exact location, but a determined creep can find out a lot based on very little.
PING!
You mean that Nigerian check I just got is going to bounce?
I have at times typed out long posts for FR and then deleted them when I thought it all over and realized that if I hit the post button I was putting enough information in one post for anyone who really wanted to work a little to identify me.
I am sure that they could do it anyway but they would need to put several things together from different posts and it wouldn’t be so easy, at least it wouldn’t be easy unless the person actually knows me.
As for putting naked pictures and such online I think anyone who even considers it is crazy. People now put things out on the internet that they would not have told anyone fifty years ago. I used to be amazed at the things I was told by strangers with whom I might strike up a conversation while waiting for a plane or something like that in a public place but it makes far more sense to tell your secrets to a stranger whom you can reasonably expect never to see again than to make a permanent record on the internet accessible to all.
I would like to meet you offline myself but not in an alley! I would want to be in a public place with a crowd, I’m too chicken to meet you in an alley.
LOLOL!
You’re a trip, Rip.
;D
That does it. I'm placing you on Double-Secret Probation.
Good Heavens Madame you should have contacted your local or state police. There are ‘’cyber-crimes’’ units now in all state police departments for just this kind of thing.
