Harry Potter fans around the world saw him on the silver screen as Padfoot in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," third installment in the boy wizard's film series. But that was a long time ago in dog years, and today Berry -- the black German shepherd who played the animal avatar of wizard Sirius Black in the 2004 box-office smash -- is homeless.

You remembered Buddy and Socks, but you forgot Seamus.

As far as I know the Secret Service agants at Hillary’s home in Westchester are still walking him. It’s about all they have to do these days.

I guess Hillary still has that home, but who knows?

What a gorgeous animal!

Still looks very “on” in the pictues here, too:

Who is it who runs the German Shepherd ping list?

I hope Berry & Porridge find a forever home together.

The left discards everything when it becomes of no use.

But I do remember Zeke, He was buried at the Arkansas mansion with a car tire imprint also.

Zeke knew too much and had to go.

Note that this has nothing to do with "Hollywood", per se. The film makers used what appears to be a reputable animal trainer who provided the animals, and they appear to have been well taken care of. The trainer/owner is the one putting the animals in a shelter, not the film makers. You'd think he'd have been able to go with a private sale, but a) this is the UK, and who knows what strange laws they have on the subject, and b) given the dog's notoriety from the movie, he probably assumed a shelter would be able to place him quickly.

This is UK, but it's still relevent subject matter. Maybe someone knows a UK person who can look into this.

Some animal trainer. He considers dogs disposable props.

IIRC Socks lived a fairly long life...I want to say 13 at least. Aggressively treating older cats is dicey.

Hopefully the poor dog will find a good home soon.

You would think that the trainer would have at least tried to sell him. Surely there are Harry Potter fans willing to part with cash to be able to say that they have *THE* dog that appeared in one of the movies.

You would have thought the trainer had a friend or industry contact to adopt or at least look after the dogs if he did not have the time.

At least it appeared he turned the dogs into a private rescue, not a public animal control facility.

"Thanks to advisor Dick Morris, Buddy was hit by a car..."

Huh? By then Morris was more in the Clintons' doghouse by then than Buddy ever was. Morris and the Clintons parted company well before Bill Clinton left office. His feud with Hillary is legendary and ongoing and is fueled by her anti-Semitism and indelible grudge-holding and his sheer, seething dislike of her as a human being.
