Exclusive: Two women accused Cain of inappropriate behavior By: Jonathan Martin and Maggie Haberman and Anna Palmer and Kenneth P. Vogel October 30, 2011 08:00 PM EDT

During Herman Cain’s tenure as the head of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s, at least two female employees complained to colleagues and senior association officials about inappropriate behavior by Cain, ultimately leaving their jobs at the trade group, multiple sources confirm to POLITICO.

The women complained of sexually suggestive behavior by Cain that made them angry and uncomfortable, the sources said, and they signed agreements with the restaurant group that gave them financial payouts to leave the association. The agreements also included language that bars the women from talking about their departures.

In a series of comments over the past 10 days, Cain and his campaign repeatedly declined to respond directly about whether he ever faced allegations of sexual harassment at the restaurant association. They have also declined to address questions about specific reporting confirming that there were financial settlements in two cases in which women leveled complaints.

POLITICO has confirmed the identities of the two female restaurant association employees who complained about Cain but, for privacy concerns, is not publishing their names.

Cain spokesman J.D. Gordon told POLITICO the candidate indicated to campaign officials that he was “vaguely familiar” with the charges and that the restaurant association’s general counsel had resolved the matter.

"Time for the scum to start doing a Clarence Thomas"

That was just politics. With Cain, the Crony Capitalists have Trillions of dollars at risk, and the dirty tricks will be astounding.

. . and Obama gets a pass. Did he ever date? Did he ever say *$@c* in front of a female? Has any female ever come forth saying, “Yeah, Obama and I were debate partners, (or some such) and we dated awhile.”. . “We dated in high school.” “I went to the Homecoming (or Prom) with Obama.” Nothing, nada. . That I know of. . He’s been just perfect regarding his relationships with women? Was Michele his first date? Maybe he is the Messiah. : )

“The sources — which include the recollections of close associates and other documentation — describe episodes that left the women upset and offended. These incidents include conversations allegedly filled with innuendo or personal questions of a sexually suggestive nature, taking place at hotels during conferences, at other officially sanctioned restaurant association events and at the association’s offices. There were also descriptions of physical gestures that were not overtly sexual but that made women who experienced or witnessed them uncomfortable and that they regarded as improper in a professional relationship.”

Damaging? Hardly. Its a political smear and not going anywhere. All he has to do the shut it down is say “it depends on what the meaning of “is” is.”

I didn't say this is damaging. I said it could be damaging. Cain must get out in front of this and bury it. He must be careful trying to compare himself to Clinton, if he takes that route. The left has a double standard, and the right isn't too fond of Clinton.

Ignore. Ridicule. Attack.

Gandhi said it all.

We have now clearly crossed the rubicon and are in Phase Three. Only because Cain has steamrolled up to front runner status and is now Defcon 3 Threat Number One to the Libs/RINOS, they have to begin the orchestrated character assassination campaign about 8 weeks early. They probably had this one waiting and front loaded it timewise to stop his ascendency. However, I am convinced, it will backfire and can be leveraged. Steady as she goes Herman. And the big question? What say YOU, fellow conservatives in the GOP race? [This will be interesting, who comes to his defense and who, by his or her silence, also joins in the condemnation and false witness.]

I don’t doubt it could be Romney’s people. It was his operatives who went over to the McCain campaign and proceeded to spread some all-out lies and smears about Palin to the media. They are the slimiest of the slimey.

On the other hand, I frankly didn’t expect the Romney crowd to try to deep-six Cain until closer proximity to Iowa.

Tell me of just about any senior leader working from the seventies through the nineties who did not navigate the blossoming feminist movement without hitting a few rocks. Unless someone comes out and accuses him of trading promotions for sex, then this is garbage.

Correction: A press conference was held, then when it was time for the reporting part, it was swept under the rug.

I am not sure the rats are smart enough to do this, but this would be a good strategy for Obama. He could give politico the so called facts knowing that the conservatives will blame Romney. The result is a split party i.e. Conservatives won’t turn out in general for Romney cuz they think Romney threw Cain under the bus. This totally helps Obama

Cain said he was ready for his “high tech lynching”. Didn’t he?

Herman Cain sounds off on race, a debate win, and the need to simplify government
Washington Examiner 5/5/11 Byron York

"They're going to come after me more viciously than they would a white candidate," Cain responded. "You're right. Clarence Thomas. And so, to use Clarence Thomas as an example, I'm ready for the same high-tech lynching that he went through -- for the good of this country." Cain smiled broadly. "I'm ready for the same high-tech lynching."

There's no doubt they will now "Thomas" Cain.

Cain needs to demand names, dates, times and corroborating witnesses.

Demand public disclosure of every salient fact. And, he needs to make that demand publicly.
