I wathced it live and it was pretty stunning. He got off topic to try and score a point with shutting down agencies like Paul...and he simply forgot...went on and on and on.

Paul gave hinm and out when he said , "I ave five," and Perry should have left it at that...but then as he kept trying to remember that moderator caught on to it and nailed him down and he coyuldn't remember.

Later, to his credit, he remembered energy and indicated that was the one...but the damage was done.

And, like others, to that point I felt it was one of his better performances.

I felt Cain really did himself well and the crowd itself was not going to let these moderators try and embarass him or split the candidates with any tak about the "allegations." Actuually, to me, that was equally stunning...they booed the moderators when they asked about it and roared when Cain explained it...again.

Don't mean to "thread jump", but I posted this earlier elsewhere, after tonight's stunning CNBC debate (and since have gotten Freepmail with similiar sentiments expressed by others on here):

"All I know is, before the debate I said two simple intense prayers. One, that Herman Cain be at peace and strong and forceful. And secondly, that if anyone else up there with him —or his staff, started the terrible smear on Herman Cain as an unfair dirty trick, that the Lord in His justice would confound and tongue-tie such a person as punishment. Any one else say this kind of prayer?"

A couple of decades, before the Internet, I used to get letters published in a couple of big local newspapers. I would bring them to work to show them off. Some were really good and funnier than heck (at least in my opinion). But a strange thing happened. I got one mediocre letter published where I attacked the media, rather than liberals, and people TOTALLY latched on that - and these were not political junkies like ourselves, they were average people.

I was really surprised then that these people had such hatred towards the media - it seems that it’s just ingrained in people. So the reaction to the media attacking Cain doesn’t surprise me - and in a way I feel bad for the journalist, because he MUST ask that question (or risk not being invited to journalist parties), and I’m sure he knew what was coming.
