Boots on the ground in Iran would be a disaster but the threat should still be there. In fact I think that’s what Canada is doing by saying they would be willing to go to war against Iran.
Frankly its all kind of pointless in a world where the west doesn’t fight to win anymore.
Very true.. we go in guns a-blazing and make great gains at the start. Then the micromanagers and lawyers take over decisionmaking, leading to excessively restrictive And ever-changing ROE that bog us down.. every time.
We don`t win decisively anymore... we make “shows of force” and then hope and pray for a peaceful aftermath.
I`m for pounding Iran to sand, but...
If we aren`t going to be all in as a nation and willing to fight to victory (and we don`t have the cohesion to be united on anything anymore, IMO), then any war vs. Iran should be a no-go.
This also applies to anyone else who has the capability to bitchslap us on their home turf. Let`s not be deluded into believing the average Iranian will stand for being invaded, regardless of their stance on the Green Movement in 2009.
We`ve certainly has just cause to declare war on Iran, so if we`re in, we have to be ALL-in, including a formal declaration. Half-hearted conflict vs. a regional power like Iran will end in disaster.
The definition of victory has been morphed into "nation building". We have become the kumbaya expeditionary force for social justice.
