Love these lines from Doctor Who in the episode “Voyage Of The Damned.”
Somewhere in an open space in London the TARDIS is waiting. The DOCTOR and MR COPPER walk across in what appears to be falling snow.
COPPER:
So, Great Britain is part of, uh, “Europee” and just across the British Channel you’ve got Great France and Great Germany.
DOCTOR:
No, no, it’s just-it’s just France and Germany. Only Britain is great.
To which the continentals reply “it’s Groß britannien or maybe groot-Brittannië or possibly Angleterre”. To the Welsh and Bretons it’s still just Britannia which is unfortunately overrun with Sassanach barbarians.
