I own and read different versions - some modern - KJV - NKJV - even the Catholic version with Aprocrypha. With the internet and such sites as biblegateway, etc. ... it’s a God send.

Check in the book section at Wal-Mart. I believe that I erred in quoting the price. The USD price on the wrapper is $7.99 and I believe that I paid $4.97 for it at WM. The book had a brown binding and says "400th Anniversary Edition" at the bottom. It is a "digital" reproduction and has all of the original Gothic English script. Somewhat difficult to read, but I enjoy trying.

It measures 8.25 high by 5.5 wide and is 2.75 thick. Has a bit of a "boxy" appearance.

The title pages that you can click on and enlarge are identical to mine. The book's spine is not identical though. Beginning at top of the spine (I've separated each with quotes to denote a change in level from top to bottom) "Holy Bible" "1611" "King James Version" "400th Anniversary Edition" and near the bottom "KJV (plus unreadable symbol)" and "ZON" "DER" "VAN"

I'm reasonably certain that the text is identical to those in your ad. The text is the typical Gothic print of that day and includes the confusion that we of today experience with some of the characters, e.g., confusion between "f" and "s" for example.

I feel fairly certain that what I have is a genuine copy and I am a bit suspicious of their ad. They, of course, are interested in selling their product and the price, if that can be regarded as an indicator, would denote a high quality product. Just a suggestion. If you can print a couple of their pages, take them with you and compare it to the $5.00 version you might feel a bit more confident (or not). Good luck.

The claim that the language of the KJV is so archaic that people today cannot make heads nor tails of it is more often than not a self fulfilling prophecy.

Simply an excuse for those who will not attempt to learn the language. The KJV is the only translation I use and that will be the case until the day I die.

I am one of those. Just can’t hold my concentration when trying to read it, though it is beautiful in it’s own way.

I have to be able to UNDERSTAND what I’m reading for my soul to be fed.

But I do understand your passion for it, Sir.
