Rather arrogant of him. If he were truly serious, he shouldn’t be saying this publicly, but meeting with Perry and Santorum to discuss it. He is putting public pressure on the others to drop out so he can advance. We can all agree that we should unite behind a Conservative, but Santorum is the most conservative left in the race. Santorum voted against right to work in Pennsylvania and stupidly wasted time in the debate argueing with Romney over felon voting rights...a big time loser as far as conservatives are concerned...how conservative is that? Rick Santorum is not ready for the Presidency.

Every poll in recent days did. Newt did not say that he is the “most conservative” but that he is the conservative with a chance to beat Romney and he bases that opinion on his poll standings.

Pay no attention to the fact that Gingrich actually finished behind Santorum in 2 of 2 contests so far.
Seriously, though, this type of hotdogging is exactly why Newt turns a lot of people off. Even if he is the star debate performer and the smartest man in the room.
