Why I chose Newt over Santorum | 'How can alternative to Romney be Romney supporter?'
World Net Daily ^ | 021112 | Chuck Norris

Posted on 02/13/2012 9:50:54 AM PST by Fred

In 2008 when my wife, Gena, and I were on the campaign trail backing former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee for president, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum was fighting to get former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney elected. (Listen in this video how Santorum passionately endorsed and elevated Mitt in his bid for the Oval Office.)

Just three years ago in his interview with radio host and conservative commentator Laura Ingraham, Santorum also emphatically told millions of listening Americans: “If you’re a conservative, if you’re a Republican, there is only one place to go, and that’s Mitt Romney.”

Why an alleged conservative like Santorum would fight for the flip-flopping Massachusetts moderate on the presidential campaign trail, especially in light of the fact that Huckabee and even McCain were running then with a much clearer conservative record, I will never know.

Yet Santorum now admits that Romney “bragged he’s even more liberal than Ted Kennedy on social issues.”

Luckily I’m done with the primary stuff. We only have 2 choices in Virginia, and I made mine.

See Post 13 for what really needs to be done.

Santorum has no problem with this pathetic liberal voting record, IN FACT, he defends it over and over and over and over again. He refuses to admit he was wrong.

Lost by 18 points because he was TOO LIBERAL even for PA.

Santorum is only in this race to see that Romney wins. STALKING HORSE..

January 24, 2011 interview, Sen. Santorum said the United States is in need of more foreign workers:

“I do think we need more people coming to this nation who want to be Americans to grow this economy.

You want to fix the Social Security problem? Let’s have more workers producing and helping out the situation.

For me, I’m willing to allow increased immigration to this country...”

Rick's describing a Ponzi Scheme.

Honestly...anyone looking to Chuck Norris for advise on casting a vote is probably too dumb to vote.

However, I supported Romney over McCain, in 2008.

(Thompson was my first choice.)

LOL. Yeah. Beating Milt in Primary state contests and consistently slamming him for Romneycare is just what they are looking for in a "Stalking Horse". BTW, I thought Bachmann, Cain, Perry, Huntsman were the stalking horses?

You never have perfect candidates to choose from. 2008 was particularly bad.

Once the conservatives dropped out of the race, all we had left was Huckabee, Romney, and McCain. I always swore that I’d never vote for McCain, and Huckabee had shot off his mouth too many times about how unchristian it was to want to secure the border. So that left Romney as the only guy left who could stop McCain.

Then he did his little cost-benefit analysis and decided to drop out, and it was McCain all the way. Just one more thing I hold against Romney. He has no fight in him. When the chips are down and you need a fighter, it isn’t him.

So, this year, still no perfect candidates. But at least the conservatives are still in the race. None perfect, but I’ll happily pull the lever for Gingrich, who is a fighter and gets the big picture. And if he falls, Santorum is the lesser of the two but still a decent man.

Between Paul and Romney, I’d hate to have to choose. I’d choose Paul, if I did, though. I’d love to see him rooting around in the Fed’s files.

After all the smears by Romniacs against Palin, the tea party, and anyone else that gets in their way, I’d have a hard time voting for the guy. I’d do it, but I wouldn’t be smiling as I did so.

Romneycare didn’t matter in ‘08. What did matter was that we were nominating a guy who had his name on McCain Fiengold, one of the most anti Constitutional pieces of garbage to come out of congress. Many people came out for Milt and against McLame as the nominee on that alone. Rush, Levin, Santorum, DeMint. Santorum says to this day that he supported Milt back then because behind the scenes in the Senate, McLame was a piece of garbage. I would tend to agree. The ‘08 election cycle was a very long time ago after 3 years of Obummer. The times changed and so have the issues. Romneycare matters today in light of what we are fighting against with the Regime.

Newt is the only one who can get conservatives enthused enough to fight. That’s why people respond so well when they hear him speak. On the other hand, the American people, even conservatives, have such short attention spans that it is frightening. Neither Romney nor Rick can win against Obama. There’s not enough enthusiasm. Newt’s problem has been money. He rose so quickly Romney and his pacs were able to effectively operate their slanderous attack machine. Of course, Rick won’t fair any better against Romney, probably worse, since there is no real basis for choosing him. Lord, be with Newt. Deliver us from Obama! Go Newt!

Let’s also not forget why McLame became palatable enough to vote for in the General. Sarah Palin. Without her, he would have been totally unacceptable.

I agree with all but this line:

“After all the smears by Romniacs against Palin, the tea party, and anyone else that gets in their way, I’d have a hard time voting for the guy. I’d do it, but I wouldn’t be smiling as I did so.”

Getting sick and tired of GOP-E’s telling me that to not vote for Romnuts is to reeelect Bam.
If Mittens is our nominee, Hussein will win anyway.

I’m going to make my contribution by helping Scott Walker and then work to help elect Conservatives to office and take back the Senate.

Santorum opposed the tea party and its reforms in the Republican Party and conservative movement just a couple years ago saying, “I have some real concerns about this movement within the Republican party … to sort of refashion conservatism. And I will vocally and publicly oppose it.”

The votes that he made are part of the record, but this paragraph is a distortion and you either know it or should know it.

Santorum was addressing the libertarian movement {i.e. the rupaul wing} of the TEA party.

Make your case without lying via distortions of the facts. That is a liberal trick.

'Santorum voted for HR 796 – the protection of abortion clinics'
Newt also voted for this one.
It was intended "to preserve the right of pro-lifers to protest at abortion clinics." Most Democrats voted against it. I wonder how closely Chuck actually looked at this list or just copied and pasted it from some email forward.

Which Republican Presidential Candidate Supported Sotomayor?

“When Bill Clinton picked Sotomayor in June 1997, many conservatives believed her confirmation would put her in a fast track to the Supreme Court. The Wall Street Journal editorial called her a liberal judicial activist. Rush Limbaugh said Clinton was putting her on a rocket ship to the Supreme Court. A vote to confirm her to the Circuit Court, many Republicans believed, would make it hard to vote against her if she was nominated to the Supreme Court.

Republicans, led by Majority Leader Trent Lott, delayed Sotomayor’s confirmation vote for more than a year. When the vote finally happened, 29 Republicans — including most conservative stalwarts like Mitch McConnell, Phil Gramm, Jon Kyl and even John McCain — voted no.

Santorum joined every Democrat in the Senate and 24 other Republicans in voting yes. Sotomayor was confirmed by a vote of 67 to 29. It does not appear that Santorum talked publicly about his decision to vote in favor of Sotomayor’s confirmation.”

Norris has many good points. I have been researching Rick for my own analysis. He is quite weak on the 2nd Amendment. I have a strong antithesis towards lawyers (they always screw things up) Rick is a lawyer. If you go back a year and look at many youtubes of Rick he hardly every speaks of limited government with passion. It's not in his lawyer/senate trained dna.

Rick is not at all this wonderfully pure, saintly conservative that he (and many of his supporters) says he is.

Rick is quite petty. As an example of my research, you can go back to his comments on Sarah not speaking at the 2011 CPAC. Here is a direct quote for wonderfully pure Rick,

"I have a feeling that she has some demands on her time, and a lot of them have financial benefit attached to them," Santorum, who will be at CPAC, told conservative commentator S.E. CuppFurther, Santorum then noted that Palin likely had "other business opportunities," seemingly implying that the former Alaska governor's standard $100,000 speaking fees for her "prior obligations" were more important to her.

Sarah was asked to respond. From an ABC article: Palin, who declined a chance to deliver the closing-night keynote speech at the convention, responded to Santorum in an Fox News interview Wednesday night. “I will not call him the knuckle dragging Neanderthal that perhaps others would want to call him,” Palin said of Santorum, “I’ll let his wife call him that instead"

I hope Sarah doesn't forget this petty man.
