Because my article starts out with a hook about Humpty Dumpty’s encounter with Alice in Wonderland.
While it works in context, just displaying the first couple of paragraphs on Free Republic would look much more nonsensical, in my opinion.
I could be wrong, but while the whole article works as an article, its first couple paragraphs, displayed on the Freeper scroll, wouldn’t work.

Understood. Excerpting in general makes no sense at all. It’s merely a necessary evil to satisfy those sources who threaten to sue FR.
Since you obviously won’t sue FR for posting entire articles yourself, you don’t need to excerpt, and thus don’t need to pick and choose what to post and what not to post.
Post the entire entry. Problem solved. :-)
