For the first time in history U.S. Marines, in a war zone, were ordered to surrender their arms while attending a dog and pony show speech by a visiting Secretary of Defense.Before addressing 200 troops gathered at Camp Leatherneck. As Secretary of Defense Leon Panettas plane was landing a suicide driver attempted to ram it, but crashed into a ditch before it could get onto the runway. Mr. Panetta and his entourage were not hurt.
Overreaction
In a case of overreaction the base commander, Major General Charles Gurganus, ordered the camp Sargent Major to have the attending Marines secure their arms outside and return to the tent. In a war zone in an area where a probable terrorist act had just occurred this is not a wise move, but alas very politically correct.
Political Correctness
As reported in the New York Times General Gurganus told reporters later that he had wanted a consistent policy for everyone in the tent, and that I wanted to have the Marines look just like their Afghan partners,

It’s really no surprise the scum in the current administration are afraid of our troops. The Marines are sworn, after all, to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign AND domestic. Obama is the deadliest enemy this country has ever faced.
The bright point is that the Administration knows it cannot count on the military to protect it from We the People - that’s probably why Obama has said from the beginning he needs a public “army” as well funded/equiped as the real Army.
Panheadetta must have been imagining just that.
How much clearer message could there be about the liberals true feelings about America? This should make someone a damn good campaign ad. Mitt wouldn’t use it!
