He can also say 2 + 2 = 3.14159, but it’s also totally wrong.
If one thinks he can enter through a border checkpoint without documentation, try it.
BTW, Legal INS, CBP, even Coast Guard authority to conduct a questioning and a search runs 100 miles inland!

ID card and orders for military only.Yep. I know. I can do that in my sleep.
Go to El Paso, make a run to Juarez. Come back with a TX DL. Walk right through. That's the way it was a couple of years ago when I did that last bit.

If a person shows up without his passport or other border crossing ID (passport card, nexus, or enhanced license) it is pretty easy to look up the data for those which include a picture. There might be civil penalties involved, but they still can't deny you entry.
It might take a while, but they cannot deny a USC entry to the U.S.

And it might take a few days or weeks to find the documentation

A good CBPO could dig up that data in 5 minutes if the person ever had a passport issued in the previous 10 years.

Perhaps they could, but with the possible exception of a stolen passport reported to the US Consel overseas, they won’t.
Especially when dealing with some attitude-idiot like the article author... Nor would I.
Break my chops? Let the Games begin.
