Talk about a grand illusion of individual voter sovereignty.
We Republicans are in this mess for a LOT of reasons; one of them is that there haven't been enough of us ensuring that somebody other than Romney got to where he is now.
Of course, w/that is the issue that RINOs have taken over the party. They've given us this most atrocious of all candidates to run vs. Obama.
IOW, the "suffering" you referenced is sourced due to both the fault of RINOs -- and by omission, the rest of us Republicans.
The source of that "suffering" won't be how any given FREEPER votes in November...that is what I'm talking about as an "illusion." And we've seen it with the nutty viewpoints expressed here that a few FREEPER non-Romney votes are going to give us Obama.
Romney is a loser; he is not a viable candidate; when the MSM & Dems get done with his racist background, his "I'm a god" idolatry, his baptizing dead relatives & Jews, I'd be surprised if he reached the 33 1/3rd voter percentile.
Prep for the suffering now. (And send a "thank you" note to the GoP establishment)

Or maybe you are confusing majority with plurality. Most polls I see say 40% of Americans call themselves conservative. 40% leaves 60% who are liberal or moderate. That could explain why your “majority” keeps voting in rats. Maybe you wanna check your facts.
Rush, Sarah, Newt, and damn near every other solid rational conservative will support the GOP nominee against one of the greatest threats this nation has seen in its history.
Conservatives either are going to have to learn to be happy with moderates (because that is all we will get from the GOP), or we will need to break with the GOP.
Right and wrong isn’t determined by a majority vote.
That’s why the founders instituted a free republic and not a democracy.
I will vote for any candidate who understands and will keep their oath.
