I find that I will be in Rome and wondering about hotels.
As there are many, many, wondering if FR friends feel free to recommend any?
I always stay at the Four Seasons.
I would recommend you check out tripadvisor.com, great hotel recommendations there. We went to Europe for the first time last year and through that website, finally settled on a hotel to stay at while in Barcelona. We were quite happy with our selection, we decided to go for comfort rather than convenience and did not regret it. One thing you want to keep in mind when looking for a hotel in Europe, is that, as the triple agent travel agent told us, their hotels aren’t necessarily as nice as ours. Even a 4 star may be more like a 3 star here.
Ambasciatori Palace Hotel, that is.
That should be Triple A agent.
I love the Novotel. I have stayed in many many in Europe. It is wonderful. Very reasonable. The Novotel I stayed in, in England, I could see Big Ben for example.
Thanks for the info. As to the difference between Europe vs American hotel differences, I do know having stayed in other parts of Europe.

We were able to walk everywhere. It had a/c (a must in summer) and a gigantic private terrace. It was fabulous and the people at the initaly.com website were very helpful.
There is no shortage of hotels in Rome, it just depends on how much you want to spend and what amenities you’re looking for. The main thing you want is location. Rome is a great city for exploring on foot (assuming you’re able to do that) as most everything is within walking distance. We found that staying near the Piazza Navona was a great choice because it is centrally located. We’ve also stayed near the Piazza Colonna which is just off the Via del Corso. That was also nice, very close to the shopping district.
I love Rome! I hope you have a great time! Make sure to take comfortable shoes.
Depending on how long you’re staying or where you want to be . . . The old Alexandra on the via Veneto is close to metro, a short walk to the Spanish Steps, designer shopping, Borghese gardens. Very reasonably priced and surrounded by good restaurants. Much smaller but very nice and quite central, near the piazza Republica, is The Baileys. If you’ll have a car, stay outside the GRA and drive into St. Peter’s enormous underground lot right off the via Aurelia. There are also apartments all over Rome if you don’t mind cooking your own meals instead of paying a fortune for them. See Venere.com and Booking.com. And definitely go to inItaly.com (huge website with hotel and nonhotel offerings).

No hotel recommendations, sorry. Might keep an eye on the news and stay clear of the commie unionized government workers protesting (aka rioting) because their freebies are being trimmed back by a few Euro’s.
