I don’t know what it is but it looks like very fine sand. Our water system is lousy. Our glasses look like there’s scum in the bottom and you can’t get it off with sandpaper. That’s from running them in the dishwasher and using stuff to stop it doesn’t work very well. The water is so bad we buy ice. Ice from the fridge stinks. The Zero filter does the trick. The drinking water from Zero tastes delicious.

From what I understand it is very hard water around central Texas. Checked out the Zero Water web site. And it does look like a good filter. That is not sand though. Appears to be a comprehensive ion exchange array. Doubt you will be able to reproduce that stuff. Might be proprietary.

By the looks of it, the filters will not last long in Texas. Up to 15 gallons per filter. My RODI unit just cranked out over 600 gallons the past 2-3 weeks. Use the water for my business.
